Hello F.E.W. I like your saw solution, It's fun to watch where it goes, and then I get the "ah-ha" moment and there it is. Like the design saying... "form follows function". Close at hand, doesn't interfere with the bench, protects the fine teeth and your fingers. Another informative video. Thank you! I used google translate (images) to read your closing messages. Very good news! Best wishes with the new channel Jerry Walker Everett Ontario
Very nice. What is the type of chisel called in 3:44 please?
@fareastwood18 күн бұрын
The chisel is a very common Japanese chisel. Since it is an old chisel, it has been sharpened many times to get that shape.

@ thank you. I like that it is short and wide. It is good to go into small space and it looks easy to control.

daiku-dougu.jp/2a-2.htm 口切り鑿 kutikiri-nomi This may be what you are looking for. But it would be difficult to get it outside Japan.

Tonoko where can I buy, please? Is this pumice stone? According to the color I think in France of the earth of Baux-de-Provence which was used to color rubber formerly. I made a tube of oil paint from it for my painting. It is an aluminum oxide powder.
@fareastwoodАй бұрын
Tonoko is produced when grinding natural whetstones. It's not pumice. But,I think it can be used in the same way as Tonoko, as long as the powder is fine enough to penetrate into the small grooves on the wood surface.
@PatrickDepoix-r3vАй бұрын
@@fareastwood Ok I see. Grinding natural whetstones is very fine too. Pumice is volcano powder veryyyyy fine and abrasive but white color. The ground of Baux de Provence is the same color as tonoko. It's an oxyd of aluminium (alumine ou corridon from the bauxite, his name come from the village de Baux in France). I filter it several times in water to use the fairly fine grains that float on top, for my oil painting. It is also a slightly abrasive grain. There are too "Tripoli de Venise". List of abrasive: SiO2 Dioxyde de silicium (silicate) CaO Oxyde de calcium (chaux) MgO Oxyde de magnésium (magnésie) --->> Al2O3 Oxyde d’aluminium (alumine) FeO Oxyde de fer Na2O Oxyde de sodium PbO Oxyde de plomb Fe2O3 Oxyde de fer K2O Oxyde de potassium TiO2 Oxyde de titane MnO Oxyde de manganèse P2O5 Oxyde de phosphore

@@fareastwood I find : Tonoko (clay powder, grey < 2 µm) powder plays an important part in the repairing part of the Kintsugi , Sabi urushi, Kiriko urushi process etc. When mixed with kiurushi, this Japanese whetstone powder creates a luxurious sabi urushi to fill small crevasses and chips. Tonoko Powder 1kg Price: ¥1,260

A bientôt.

It was amazing to see...The method of "filling the grain" is ancient and found in many cultures. I believe the methods of various Asian cultures are superior to many modern methods that use unnatural "plastic" finishing methods. I have been using the same blend of beeswax, pine rosin, citrus and tung oil on both the exterior and interior wooden frames for over 40 years with great results. From my perspective, this table has a beautiful finish. Thank you for sharing your process...
