At some point this interview becomes a debate and, in my view, at that point, Sabine gets the better of Krauss. She is able to point out that naturalness (as understood by those who hold to a view that sees supersymmetry as the predicted situation) will always be tainted as an unscientific fudge while ever a) the prediction of supersymmetry fails to find experimental support and b) the claimed sense of naturalness (that has its origins in an all too fraternal encounter with supersymmetrical ferment) is merely a flawed perception and intuition arrived at in a circular fashion by insinuating itself into the structure of its own elucidation. That supersymmetry might prove to be the case is just a guess made by a scientist or a group of scientists. Krauss' notion of naturalness, however, relies on the rightness of supersymmetry. From my lay perspective, he is getting science the wrong way round. The bet he is making about supersymmetry might pay off some day but that day will only come when experimental results confirm supersymmetry as scientifically established. And, before that momentous day, neither Krauss nor any other scientist is entitled to rely on a loaded notion of naturalness (joined to supersymmetry at the neck) as if supersymmetry had already been bestowed with the laurels of established science.

I don't think that Noam Chomsky being interviewed on mainstream media gives it any legitimacy. He's just using an evil tool to say what the vast majority of intellectuals don't dare to say. Heather Mac Donald asserts (at 26:24) that the result of an alleged refusal by judges and prosecutors to enforce the law so as not to send Black defendants to prison is "an incredible crime spike following the George Floyd race riots." According to the F.B.I. report released on Sept. 23, 2024, "murder and non-negligent manslaughter recorded a 2023 estimated nationwide decrease of 11.6% compared to the previous year"; they also note that rape dropped by 9.4%, aggravated assault dropped by 2.8%, and robbery dropped by 0.3%. I doubt that any judges or prosecutors have actually come out and said -- as Ms. Mac Donald tells us they have -- that they are not going to enforce the law, but I'll give her a pass on this and assume it's a rhetorical flourish. But the "incredible crime spike" she cites is flatly contradicted by the data. So, then, how much of the rest of Ms. Mac Donald's claims is accurate?
