I remember the Prosecution Attorney best from his later role as the Governor on "Benson" years later during the late 70's, early 80's.

Just think of the trillions of dollars and millions of lives that wd be SAVED if people were not born to horrible homes, not born to people not fit to raise rodents; if we only STOPPED all the “mitigating circumstances” well before people were murdered 🤔 “Some people become white collar workers… some become blue collar workers, some go to college, others turn to crime”-we DO know why: parenting or lack thereof.

The best performance I've ever seen from James Coburn. this was a great TV series better than Perry Mason. I'm hooked just saw 3 episodes back to back.

I never seen Jack Gilford as a serious dramatic actor. When I see his face I think of all the Crackerjack commercials he did. "When it comes to crackerjacks some kids never grow up". I was a kid in the '60's, this show was just as good as Perry Mason.

Charles Durning! Gene Hackman! This series had the most consistently high-caliber list of guest actors in the history of network broadcasting.

This was Gene Hackman’s second appearance in “The Defenders.” He appeared in the very first episode of the series, “The Quality of Mercy,” which featured a wonderful performance by Jack Klugman as the Assistant DA.

Today most people remember Larry Blyden as a game show host. This is an example of what a remarkable actor he was. He was also superb in the television adaptation of “What Makes Sammy Run?”.

One of the best TV series of all time. What's absolutely WEIRD is why no video re-release of FULL series. Just that Season 1 box. No S2-4. Maybe the Cosmos wants it that way? Yeah, sure -- Dream on!

What a cast: Robert Duvall, Estelle Parsons, William Redfield & Ossie Davis! They don’t make great television like this anymore.

For the too young to remember, Earl eventually became a Barry Goldwater presidential election committee dirty tricks operative. Earl "Im No Red Pinko" Chafee was determined to defeat Lyndon B. Johnson who Earl knew was a Commie fellow traveler and Bolshevik stooge. Alas, good old Earl joined the John Birch Society and , along with the Society, entered the annals of pathetic obscurity. Nonetheless, rumors fly that Earl has resurfaced and is now chairman of the righter than right wing faction of the Baked Bean, Texas GOP. Fellow Texans to this day consider Earl the most intelligent citizen the Lone Star state has ever sired.

Carrol O'Conner ("Archie Bunker") as a doctor. Another one of the doctors was Haywood Hale Bruin, who was later a sports commentator. They made it sound like the doctor would be paying the settlement out of his own pocket. There was no mention of malpractice insurance. Didn't they have it in those days?
