I can’t get over how well written these scripts are. Very intelligent, sophisticated and thoughtful 🤔

LAW 101 FOR THE PUBLIC. In addition, every script is written with a deep knowledge of the relevant laws, exceptions to the laws and limitations on the exceptions in both civil law and criminal law cases for a wide range of alleged crimes or causes of action, at least in the State of New York, which closely follows the standard model of the American Bar Association which is followed by all other States and the District of Columbia. The scripts expose the weaknesses of the judicial system and of the individuals who become defendants.

I did not miss this: There was no way in !@#$ the writers could have made the way clear for him and his lover to be together in the end. If that had happened, audiences would have concluded the show supports adultery. They had to be broken up. What I am glad for is that SHE did it, and with such panache.

What was the difference between either, why so happy it was she.....or do we already know.
@actionsub Жыл бұрын
At that time, the network "standards and practices" would have demanded that there be a conclusion where they did not get together at the end. They made Alfred Hitchcock explain at the end of most of his TV shows why the killer didn't exactly get away with murder even though the script suggested that they did.

Great acting. Very uncomfortable episode, watching him scramble to throw Sally under a bus. And that the wife would literally kill for the chance to set up her rival-some dark stuff. The summation was stirring. Great series.

As much as the wife hated her husband, she hated herself much more. This passive suicide/murder was the greatest moment of her life!! What type of life is that. Get a divorce and move on. Yes her husband would marry her "replacement" but is there more to life than self destructive hatred!!???

Robert Webber, who played the male defendant, does a great job at being a loud, fiery, selfish jerk. I've seen him in other roles like that. So much so, I can't stand the sight of him! 😖😫😝

Fascinating that the plot did not hinge upon finding the real facts of the shooting, as standard formula would demand, yet it is so complete...

It was said that Robert Reed hated his role in the Brady Bunch, but needed the work. Now you can understand, leaving a good drama like this....and ending up on that ridiculous Brady Bunch. As a young teenage, I watched the Bunch, but as you might guess, I had a crush on one of the actors. I admit....it was Marsha.......Marsha, Marsha, Marsha.
@stevensica893 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that had to be a comedown from co-starring in a very good dramatic series to co-starring in a very lame sitcom. Still, work is work and acting is a tough profession. A steady paycheck for 5-6 seasons was not to be sneered at.

Reminds me a little bit of the Somerset Maugham story "Louise" - the opening part and how the wife was prepared to make others suffer for it seems she knew the two would be charged because she was murdered and she thought the way she would get revenge would be by them both being executed. Hence the phone call to Sally. Quite a plot really. Otherwise the wife would have committed suicide.
@dovidrotenberg4690 Жыл бұрын
What do you mean the wife would have committed suicide, she did, just with the assistance of an assassin. She obviously hated her life and wanted to die with the "Philistines"!!! See the book of Judges approximately the end of Chapter 16.

Absolutely, and so is passive suicide /murder. Attempting to get improper innocent people executed isn't exactly moral either. Notwithstanding self destructive hatred!!!! In this series you have to pick and choose the episodes you are comfortable / uncomfortable with. There is nothing moral about intermarriage between Jew and Gentile. Euthanasia is murder especially when the victim a down syndrome child has no say in the matter. Then there's abortion where no one is consulting the fetus as to whether he wants a chance to live, etc. and further etc.

@@dovidrotenberg4690 "The Defenders" was all about making viewers feel uncomfortable. If you didn't feel a bit conflicted at the end, you weren't paying attention.
