Bought one of these today at a Scheels that sits on the edge of town. Had a chance to look across a valley out to a mile with the Viper, Razor, and Diamondback models. I could see the difference in the models as they went up in price, but in the end, there wasn’t enough of a difference to justify spending the extra money. If I was serious about taking pictures through the scope, , I would have spent the extra money. If you are using your scope for scouting animals at long distances, the Diamondback will work as well as the other models.

I just bought the vortex Razor, the higher end model. I would suggest looking thru your buddies’ vortex early morning or dusk. Low light is where you are going to see the difference. Both my wife and I were able to tell the difference in store when looking at details. That being said, it’s not necessary unless you are trophy hunting and counting points.

Awesome review. I just bought this bow today at Academy. It didnt have anything on it except the front sight. I took it to gander mountain and their bow guy set it up with a whisker biscuit, peephole, quiver and D-loop for a good price. It is my first bow and the guy took me to their indoor archery range and showed me how to hold it and how to use the sights. It’s a great bow. I can’t wait to nail a hog or deer with it.

Good review -- you show the images through the scope. Some other reviews don't show those, which don't make any sense. It'd be better if you had given the distance and magnifying power for every image.
@nickweaver15493 жыл бұрын
Would it help if I made a video of different distances ? I can do that with no problem. I actually know where a huge herd of elk are right now! I can even try to get the camera to see inside the range finder. Anyways please let know
@liedebunker12533 жыл бұрын
@@nickweaver1549 Yes. It would help a lot if you give the distances and powers. You can add the distances and powers here. Or, if you don't have the distances for this video, you can make a new one with the images through the scope, the distances, and the magnifying powers, and replace this one with the new one. 😁

So In this video I had the spotting scope on 20 power. The elk and deer videos start at 500 yards . The big group of elk where around 700 to 900 yards Away. Some are at 1,000 yards. I watched a group of deer at 1,700 yards away and I could tell that there was 3 branched bucks in a group of does. I could count how many points they had though.

A 400 grain arrow looses about 40 FPS for every second of flight. A 1000 grain arrow looses about 10 FPS per second. Your “fast” arrow isn’t as fast as you think. Also, under 650 grains, you cannot break heavy bone like an elk shoulder. You cannot predict an animal shifting last minute, so cannot rely purely on shot placement. Also, the native Americans shot extremely heavy, FOC based arrows. Look up Dr. Ashby’s reports. Just because you are killing everything you shoot doesn’t mean you are maximizing efficiency. Your arrow has almost no momentum upon impact. Archery is arrow flight. Impact is bowhunting.
@nickweaver15493 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I find it interesting. I’m curious on how many elk you have harvested with a compound bow? I’m just wondering because I’ve put this same arrow set up through multiple shoulders. About the native Americans arrows they could’ve been heavier but you can’t tell me with today’s technology that a bow from then can compare to a compound bow today. I do have a couple elk shoulders hanging around and if you would like I could put a video together and have it up on my channel with me shooting it at different ranges with my set up.
@samanderson92673 жыл бұрын
@@nickweaver1549 it’s not my personal experience that I am speaking from. I don’t have any specific degrees that would give me the authority to do so. Dr. Ashby has published 26 years of detailed studies on arrow penetration. These tests have been conducted on thousands of animals. The science is clear and conclusive regarding the following penetration factors, ranked most to lest importance. www.grizzlystik.com/Top-12-Arrow-Penetration-Enhancing-Factors.aspx?FSIntent=true
@samanderson92673 жыл бұрын
@@nickweaver1549 I would love to discuss how any of these factors do not lead toward more penetration. I am not not married to any opinion and am interested as to what you think about the subject.
