asymmetric centrifugal mixer which basically makes a vortex inside the cup and shears the contents without introducing bubbles.

Helpful video, how would apply 9 micron diamond and 1 micron diamond before the .05 alumina? or if ground down to 1200 do you need the 9 and 1 micron?
@shibbleswentworth19 күн бұрын
i've found these to give reasonable results for our application. it may just take more time at a certain step unless you do those. We used to do 5, 1, and 0.05 micron alumina but if you have contamination it kind of ruins the point.

If I'm testing spring is that consider Circular on the Geometry tab?
@shibbleswentworth19 күн бұрын
sure but this is really just used to measure cross sectional area for stress measurements. a spring is a unique geometry so i would defer analysis to load v displacement numbers which is how they are typically ordered

Can i use methanol for etching??
@shibbleswentworth19 күн бұрын
with an acid, methanol is just an alcohol won't do anything by itself. The ethanol in nital is basically used to keep oxygen away and distribute evenly on the surface

Have you tried adding pigments to the resin? in any way. I am trying to find a way to add UV fluorescent pigments and I have a form2 printer
@shibbleswentworth6 ай бұрын
to get fluorescent dyes in your parts, put the dye in the IPA you are washing it in after the print. It will absorb into the surface and you don't need to add to the resin which would alter the printing process. I have done successfully with Texas Red using clear resin.

Anyone know why the load cell value it keeps go up after each sample test ( load cell balance should be returned 0 ) ... therefore the test results become higher and fail?
@shibbleswentworth19 күн бұрын
depends on a lot of things, making sure starting position is same, and no actual load is on the cell when you balance it.

Hi Adam, found your channel occasionally thanks to your comments under Epsilon's videos. I think it could be interesting to validate the simulation e.g. by using a DIC video extensometer, couldn't it?

Hi. Is there a more common substitute than HNO3 for etching?
@85tkern9 ай бұрын
I don't know if this post is still active but it really depends on what you want to observe. If you plan to observe the microstructure of the material under a microscope, you really need to use nital or picral. Anyone with the capability to polish a sample down to 0.05 um can surely etch a sample with one of these two solutions. If you want to etch it for macroscopic examination, you can try HCl. I use reagent grade and dilute it myself but I'm sure you could get away with purchasing some muriatic acid at a hardware store. For a macro etch, you can get away with about a 600 grit finish. I hope this helps. If I get any more questions, I could make a video if needed.
