People are often misaligned with respect to the coordinate system of the CT or MRI scanner, which can be inconvenient if scripting with primitive objects, obtaining output data that you'd like to have anatomic relevance without additional computation, surgical planning sessions where the surgeon would like to snap to principal view axes, or creating a high quality case summary with repeatable, anatomically correct views.
This shows a technique to adjust for anatomic orientation in 3-matic, capture the transformation from native orientation and apply it to the set of imaging data in Mimics. This method has several advantages: 1) it retains alignment of segmentation with respect to imaging and 2) it allows the transformation to be toggled on/off.
