It's a death scene but who said he was shot? Maybe Tony had a heart attack and the grey jacket 🤌🤌🤌 is just someone unrelated to this event, just there to confuse the viewer

Il put it this way: the worm suggesting a "quicker way" to the castle by Sarah's departure reminds me of the line from Pilgrim's Progress at the end of that book: "....there was a way to Hell, even from the gates of Heaven..."

Kubrick reportedly never included randomness in his props or scenes Runtime 6.30 Suspicious man standing by shop called [A Hint of] Crossing road [STOP CHB Verona Returant] Wonder whether this is an early reference to the 'Pizza Parties' we have heard about? The graffiti is a little hard to make out, but generally if you want to analyse look at the background as well.

We make a point of watching the Muppets version every year on Xmas eve or Xmas day. I found the DVD on e-bay that doesn't cut out Belle's song (which was cut from many media available because it didn't pass muster with some or other "test audience"). Sim, Scott, Owens, and Finney all have their good points.

The term “surplus population” was a comment about how Britain had to import food because they couldn’t grow enough to feed everyone. Dickens’ used that term because it’s something that politicians of his day were saying.

Yes and it was worth mentioning to show how the character felt about people who lived all around him, out of his sight.

It was blatantly obvious Phil's crew had him done in retaliation for Phil, simple as that, they gave Tony the greenlight to kill Phil in the final chilly meeting and then naturally went ahead and whacked Tony in turn to cover up their own betrayal of their own crew member. Cos if they hadnt then questions wouldve been left floating about why Phil was killed. Youd think Tony wouldve considered he was being set up considering the crew asked him to do it cos they didnt want to get their own hands dirty.

Lesser known made for TV adaptation with Robert Guillome, John Grin’s Christmas. It’s not very long, has a different take, but deserves a mention.

Right from the start, I really HATE any musical versions of A Christmas Carol, mostly because I HATE musicals and musical theater. My favorite versions of A Christmas Carol are the dramatic versions, like the one from 1938 starring Reginald Owen and the 1999 movie starring Sir Patrick Stewart.

Idk, I've never found Alistair Sim believable, especially as the reformed Scrooge. It looked more like he'd gone mad to me. Michael Cain to me was probably one of the weakest Scrooges George C Scott was probably my favourite one

I totally agree with you. Michael Caine is the best Scrooge and Muppet Christmas Carol is the best version of the tale. I do have a fondness for the 1994 Alan Menken-composed A Christmas Carol, shown annually at Madison Square Garden in NYC until 2003. It has wonderful songs and featured a friend of mine originating the role of Christmas Past. It was filmed in 2004 with Kelsey Grammer and was, to me, rather awful, but is worth watching for the songs. I grew up with Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol, another one with great songs.

Aside from Alastair Sim, my other favorite Scrooge is Patrick Stewart. However, I'm unsure why you showed him a few times in the beginning but totally left his version of A Christmas Carol out of the rest of the video? I really like his version of the story, as it provides a lot of the backstory to the early parts of Scrooge's life (something that some of the other films don't cover). The supporting cast is also quite good in this one. I recommend that everyone check out that film, if you haven't done so already.

Was with it till he said Muppet Christmas Carol is his favorite adaptation. What a load of rubbish. Thumbs down. If I had to pick my favorite, it would be a tossup between Sim and Scott, with Hicks (1935) a close second/third.

The 1938 version with Reginald Owen is my favorite!! I watch it every year! My elementary school used to show it to all the grades on the last school day before Christmas vacation! No one plays a scarier Marley than Leo G. Carroll! Seeing the redemption of Owen’s Scrooge is a delight and all that you would expect a repentant Scrooge to be. Well done in my opinion!

Thank you for your most perfect reviews of a wonderful Christmas Story. My husband's favorite for years is the George C Scott version. It is beautifully filmed and beautifully acted by George and others. We have purchased dvds of Christmas movies rather than going on a hunt each year. Each year we watch: George C Scott, Bill Murray,. Because of your review I will mark some to watch next year.
