Good start now get the upfitted vehicles to Michigan State Police and LASD who do the annual police vehicle testing that almost all agencies in the US use to help fleet managers and police chiefs use to purchase vehicles. Maybe once they start seeing direct comparison with current vehicles from Ford, GM and Stellantis they will be more inclined to consider a Tesla for police work. Last year Ford had the Mach E in police testing and this year they also had the GM EV in police testing. apples to apples on the same day by the same drivers on the same track Grattan raceway and Stellantis's test track

The rap on Teslas is officers don't think the interior is near big enough and the seats are too cramped when wearing uniform with fat belts padding etc and backseat prisoner stuff just doesn't work. Cybertruck might have potential now that sales are declining and the discounted versions are coming out. Cyber seems to be the better vehicle anyway - drive by wire, 4 wheel drive and steering, bullet proof etc
@zeitgeist888
@zeitgeist888 11 күн бұрын
@@cuda426hemi The Model Y is reasonably sized as it is close to the Mach E and Chevy Blazer EV both of which were submitted for testing last year and this year respectively. We had Tauruses which are even smaller mid 90s versions so size is not enough of a factor to exclude them. Seats can be changed or even just seat foam if it was enough of a concern.
@cuda426hemi
@cuda426hemi 11 күн бұрын
@@zeitgeist888 They won't be changing seats to make ROOM in fleet vehicles, not worth the money. No, Police themselves say the Tesla 3 and Y cockpit isn't big enough, period. It's obvious when you compare the tiny Y cockpit to a Crown Vic or Ford SUV. You shouldn't have to work to make a fleet vehicle, this is why the Teslas will remain a gimmick for Police which is fine - it's all just promo for Upfit AND Tesla called co-op advertising, and as used you won't have any Teslas pulling you over in your lifetime. But they make cute patrol vehicles.
