Wow a Dam that has rainbow. brown and brook trout, Atlantic salmon and cod - never seen that before! as far as i know brook trout don't do well in dams and Atlantic salmon never really took off in NSW- they're there but not in massive numbers . If you want a cod go see coley at the fishing shed Bathurst, he can introduce you to some local experts and get you onto one. Would love to see you get a carp on lure in western Sydney - reach out to bush fish and cook or Windsor bait and tackle KZbin channels - I'm sure they would help you.

The sniff test lol. Not gonna lie I do that too sometimes for the fish I catch. In general, trout don't have that fishy of a smell compared to some other species.

Never caught a water rat (rakali) but I've had some special encounters. One used to follow my kayak in and try to pinch redfin from my stringer. It got to the point where I'd keep a couple of fish for it to keep busy with while i loaded the yak. Also had them drag in dead 3-4kg carp from the bank right in front of me and drag them down the creek. Awesome little fellas

Hey shroom great vid and no hate I just wanted to let you know that trout are very fragile and don’t swim away as well as a lot of saltwater fish because of their slimy skin. I don’t know enough to explain what to do but I know that you want to keep the trout and your hands when handling the fish as wet as possible to protect the fish’s skin. Great video though shroom keen to see more 🤙🙂
