I spent the day fishing with disadvantaged kids! (Everyone caught fish!)

I spent the day fishing with some kids from St Marys Flexible Learning Centre on a boat by invitation from Joe B, their teacher from this school, a small one in Sydney's west working with disenfranchised young people trying to get them back on track in terms of their education, confidence, and social engagement.
This was aboard a BBQ boat on the Hawkesbury river and we all had an amazing couple of hours talking, fishing and eating. All the kids on the boat caught a fish and had a great time and I'm sure it will be a warm fuzzy memory for years to come! Thanks to Joe for inviting me and I hope to have had a small impact on the kids for the better!

Thank you for the kind words Dan. I don't know each kids struggle, but I know it was a special day for them. SOme of them have never had the privilege to fish before, let alone be on a boat. It was a special day, literally every kid caught a jewfish as well which is the pinacle of river fishing. That was a special day for them!

G’day Shroom. I love the Hawkesbury River mate. I’ve fished that river most of my life and swear that it’s the best fishing spot I’ve had the pleasure to fish. The good old Hawkesbury prawns are the way to go 👍🏼. You really need to use a bit heavier weights in those tides. Great video mate and a worthy cause too my friend.

Chevapi, according to my mate, who's father was Croatian, are made with a mix of different meat, and garlic. Pork, beef and lamb, I think. They're great.

I remember back in the early 70s watching fishermen, fishing off the rocks, catching monster size jewfish over a metre long. It seems like these big Jewfish either no longer exist or they are very scarce in the Hawksbury

Atomic arrowz is a frequently suggested rod and exactly fits your budget, if you want to colour match tell me what reel's going on it but the 23 REVROS SPIN 662MLFS is pretty all rounder aswell
