Hiya. Would these racks hold wet paper that I want to coffee stain or do you think the paper would be too heavy and may fall through the gaps?

Would you wish sometimes not only to paint, but in the same time painting plein air picture and drinking whisky and smoking cigar? I'm a painter too and I think sometimes it makes process more interesting, and even creative!

Very very interesting. Most probably if there had been some other guys and gals painting at your side we would have witnessed as many different finished works. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Love the quick tip on triangulation. Ive been caught so many times with tangent problems. 3 points taking up most of the canvas!

Good tip about trying to predict what the light will do next. I've snookered myself a few times through not realising the light was about to change imminently

It still catches me out sometimes. You have to force yourself into getting into the habit of trying to figure out the timings when you are outside. Easier done in a Mediterranean climate. Not so easy in the cloudy UK!

Very instructive video about how to start a plein air painting with a great, but simple technique. You just find 3 points in the shape of a triangle that cover the canvas then you are ready to begin. Take a look, you might be surprised too.

Interesting... I prefer the first painting! Seth Goldin says: as an artist you don’t make art for everyone, you make are for some one (and oneself obviously)! And I guess the artist can never tell what it is that some one will connect to in the art. It’s often completely different from what the artist sees/connects to and likes!

Often the best teachers are NOT the best artists! So art in galleries or museums does NOT indicate they will be able to teach you to be as proficient as they are.

This is a very interesting video showing some wonderful art from a Museum in southern Italy and I was thrilled to watch it Barry. Thank you for filming and posting it on KZbin. It was really wonderful to see so many of the Virtual Art Academy principles used by those Master painters.

Yes I know Joan that it's a short video. I am not making these primarily as formal training videos, but just to give viewers a few informal insights into the life of a professional artist. I am a full time professional painter, and these videos are done while I am actually working on my artwork. Longer videos would affect my work and the flow that you get into as a painter. However by watching a few episodes in this series, I hope I can give people an idea of how at least one artist deals with the difficult job of selecting what to paint, and what I think about when planning a painting.
