Tried for the first time on my way to airborne on recommendation of a good friend. Been off and on (mainly on) ever since.. they’ve definitely helped in the field staying awake but I’m at another schoolhouse now and working myself off of them. Started seeing the cardio issues as you stated.. First time commenting on a video just wanted to show some support. Thanks for the content brotha’.

A wise young man, I wish him success and happiness for himself and his family. Thank you for this series, I've been out almost ten years and hearing about how people have gone through the adjustment process and how they (and myself) are still going through it is a huge help. It lends their perspective and a reminder that good things are still possible for us even if we aren't still in that mindset of community and discipline. A powerful series on self-care, thanks again for it.

I have used nicotine pouches for decades but like you say, it has begun to only become like a energy drainer instead of the Benefits that I have had while using it. You gotta know when its time to move on, and it is time for me to say goodbye to it aswell. It has become a stimulant addiction more than helping me to stay productive and alert.

Thats the thing for me brother - life is absolutely not fun or worth living if I'm lacking the energy to fully live it. Yes we might be tired and/or stressed some days but nicotine (and energy drinks/coffee/etc) are only going to make it 4x worse. How you holding up?

I left the italian army in 2022 after 3 years of duty as private since I didn't pass the first written exam for becoming corporal, which adds 4 years of service more in the italian army system, and the other reason was that I was burnt out, 2020 lockdown did quite the job and also was no easy life in my barracks. Honestly sometime I feel very guilty about it, I often think that I could have done much better and going on with the career. However, after 2 years back in the civilian life I finally was able to pass that exam and get the rank, after 5 months of service I got the opportunity to join the police and I accepted it since it's a higher payed job and it's a civilian job, which means more freedom. Now I'm feeling so lost and down, cause I really liked beeing a soldier, for now I'm at the police bootcamp, and I'm not really enjoying it for now and I'm thinking that maybe I took the wrong decision for my life. I'm defenetly not going not to miss some things of the army, but honestly I'm feeling so bad right now. Any suggestion for how to overcome this? I salute all the american veterans allies

I been smoking a pack to pack and a half for 18 years now. Want to get off the cigs.. lungs aren't what they used to be.. when i cold turkey cigs i am in a horrible mood for a week... relapse a few weeks later usually after some beers.. tried patches... end up smoking just as much with a patch on... vapes.. smoke vape between cigs.... bought a pack of zyn.. want to try zyn while I break the habit of smoking... and then taper down the strength of the zyn and frequency... guess its better than 20 to 30 Peter Styvesant Red or Camel Filters every day...

@Benj_Steele well going on day 3 without ciggies... bought 2 packs of zyn. The 6mg and the 3mg. Don't really like the 6... only had about 7 pouches a day... when 6mg is finished I am going to stick to 3mg. And try taper off further from there. Already feel better on my lungs and sinus... usually spray sinus spray 3 times a day... now only once a day... so let's see how this journey goes...

Bloody hard to quit you’re right. In UK we use much stronger stuff like you can’t even buy 3mg, I use 9mg and go through 20 a day. And exactly like you say the first dose in the morning feels great and after that I just feel the downsides of using it. Well done for quitting 🙌

Been using nicotine since i was 13 years old so about 8 years now. gonna be tough but I know i got it.

I was just 17 when I landed at MCRD San Diego in 1978. Had a good 4 years in the C-130 community, Flight Mechanic, got to travel to exotic locations and had a blast. Couldn't wait to get out though when my enlistment was up. My advice to anyone getting out, make sure you document any and all medical issues that may seem small when you're in your 20's but become major problems in your 60's because fighting with the VA down the road is a lot easier if it's documented... Stuff like Sleep Apnea, broken bones or sprains... anything. Semper Fi.

Thank you very much for this video. I appreciate your thoughts, and I relate to your perspective very much. I am a USMC vet as well, and I don't want that fact to define me. I have a hard time trying to portray and even understand who I am. On one hand I am a USMC vet, and on the other side I am just a chill guy just living a chill life now. It is hard to remember who I was when I was in, because that man is a completely different man than I am now. I have never heard "A man who has lived many lives has lived a good life," and I very much appreciate you bringing that to my attention.

Ben, another great video, so thanks. Love your frankness, and of course your photography. We are heading there the last week of November-staying on a 16 person boat, 7 nights. Then we will stay independently on San Cristabal for three nights, Santa Cruz one night. I am a hobbyist photographer and am wondering about gear. My go-to camera is Sony A 7, IV, but also have the II. Would you take both camera bodies? How much reach? Will 100-400 mm do it? Maybe 20mm for landscapes? Would you also take macro/ and or 35 mm 1.4 and or/ 24-105 mm 4? I have an old GoPro. Would you suggest dusting off the cobwebs for scuba dives or get a house for my iPhone 12? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again! Dorothy
@Benj_Steele
@Benj_Steele 2 ай бұрын
Hey Dorothy, glad it was helpful. Really, that's up to you. I like to have two camera bodies in case something happens to one then you can still shoot. I know that's a rare occurrence (I've never broken a camera), but you never know. One of the coolest things about the Galapagos is you're usually very close to the wildlife, so a 1-400 would be great. 20mm is.a great idea on landscapes. I don't do much macro stuff, but I'm sure you could find a use for it. As far as the snorkel, I'd suggest a newer gopro or a DJI action cam over a case for your iphone. Good cases aren't very cheap and you don't get much out of the phone over one of those. Have a great time!

Could you speak a little more about getting selected for your MOS as an officer? I myself went enlisted and always though I would be a grunt officer after not understanding that you can't pick what you do. I was a corpsman with a logistics unit and dealt with a lot of logistics officers. -Rah 15th MEU
@Benj_Steele
@Benj_Steele 3 ай бұрын
Hey man, sure thing. A The Basic School (TBS) class is divided into thirds based on overall performance and each MOS is equally allocated to each third. This way, not all of the talented officers go into one MOS, but each MOS has some people of talent. This method makes sense, but unfortunately means not everyone will get the job that they want. Although I was ranked top 30, I got my fourth choice. In retrospect, you can be smart about it and rig your listings a bit, but I thought I would get my top choice because my Captain said that I would.

I still don’t get this system of officer coming in to lead a platoon. Why does an officer need having his hand held by the NCO? How can you consider that kid a leader then? why not have officers who used to be NCOs as an officer? Isn’t the difference just being in charge of a larger group, so just like you have managers of different departments in an organization and then you have the COO who’s in charge of all the operations in every department where the COO cannot have less experience than a manager has, so too should be a platoon ran

Hey buddy quick question I'm a solo traveler deciding between flying into cristobal vs santa cruz...I like the fact that the airport is right in Cristobal but hearing santa cruz has much better nightlife ...would you say cristobal is worth flying into just because of the airport situation and losing the busy/nightlife of santa cruz? I'm planning to just stay on one island so not going to a second one and was wondering if cristobal has more beauty over santa cruz. Thanks in advance
@Benj_Steele

Hey Donny, it just depends on what you're looking for. I'm not a big nightlife guy, so I don't mind early mornings taking photos and going to bed fairly early. Santa Cruz does have more in the nightlife regard, so if that's what you want it might be the best. Both spots are beautiful though. Kicker Rock is my favorite dive spot and that's near Cristobal. Good luck.
