Thank you for sharing this information. I am crossing my #1 bucket list item Africa off in May and ready start planning my next big trip and Galapagos is next on my list. I am a solo traveler and the cruises are just soo expensive for solo travelers. I am definitely going to look into flying direct and planning my own day trips. Question - What time of the year did you go or would you recommend going?
@Benj_SteeleАй бұрын
Awesome, I totally get it on the cruise. I actually just did one a few weeks ago and am going to be posting a video about it soon. And depends on what you're looking for. Shark season is Jan - May I believe.

Hey buddy quick question I'm a solo traveler deciding between flying into cristobal vs santa cruz...I like the fact that the airport is right in Cristobal but hearing santa cruz has much better nightlife ...would you say cristobal is worth flying into just because of the airport situation and losing the busy/nightlife of santa cruz? I'm planning to just stay on one island so not going to a second one and was wondering if cristobal has more beauty over santa cruz. Thanks in advance
@Benj_SteeleАй бұрын
Hey Donny, it just depends on what you're looking for. I'm not a big nightlife guy, so I don't mind early mornings taking photos and going to bed fairly early. Santa Cruz does have more in the nightlife regard, so if that's what you want it might be the best. Both spots are beautiful though. Kicker Rock is my favorite dive spot and that's near Cristobal. Good luck.

Hi, would you say 4 days on Isabela is enough or too much? (Many say it is the most beautiful island). I got 9 days in total.
@Benj_Steele14 күн бұрын
Hey, not necessarily. There are some good tours off Isabela as well. Honestly you can’t go wrong.

Stunning footage! What gear did you use for all of the underwater shots and vids?
@Benj_Steele6 ай бұрын
I use a Aquatech water housing for my Sony camera. It’s primarily a surf housing though. There are better ones for diving.

Hi Ben firstly great video, your relaxed manner made it very watchable. My wife and I are going to Galapagos at the end of this year flying in from Guayaquil and out to Quito, do we need to book accommodation in advance or can we just find somewhere to stay when we get there?
@Benj_Steele2 ай бұрын
Do you mean on island or mainland?
@Benj_Steele2 ай бұрын
I would avoid Guayaquil if possible or would just stay somewhere safe near the airport.
@MikeStanley-cn5pc2 ай бұрын
Thanks Ben I was thinking about whether we should book accommodation in Gapapagos in advance?
@Benj_Steele2 ай бұрын
@@MikeStanley-cn5pc I'd have an idea of where you want to stay and would possibly even book it prior to. That being said, I'm sure you can find something when there as well I just like to plan some in advance if possible.

How long are the boat rides between islands? We want to explore the same islands you did.
@Benj_Steele3 ай бұрын
I want to say it was a few hours between islands. Those boat rides were my least favorite thing about the trip, but not too bad. Just don't sit inside!

Hi! You mention the water being murky…. We are a family of 5 planning a trip to the Galapagos. Our goal is to see/swim with the sea lions and giant turtles, explore and more. We are looking at late May. We love to snorkel but we are not scuba certified. Is the water always murky this time of year? Is it still good enough to snorkel??
@Benj_Steele8 ай бұрын
I’d have to research when water clarity is best. That being said, it was amazing most of the time just murky that one day. Might have been due to weather or the location. I’d double check on that as seasonality might make a big difference. Have fun, you’ll love it.

what's your thoughts on doing this with children,,, age 6 and 8
@Benj_Steele11 ай бұрын
Hey Chris, honestly I'd hold off for a bit, but that's maybe just me. The kids would definitely have a great experience, although they may find a few of the water activities a little challenging or much (maybe depends on the kids). I suppose it could go either way depending on who the kids are. Although I was really adventurous and loved the outdoors as a kid, I might have been best suited for a trip like this at 10+. I guess if you have the cash to maybe go back when they're older, send it.

@Benj_Steele8 ай бұрын
Hey@@jillcarman8031 , you're absolutely right. Sorry, I misspoke saying that I left for there around summer my time, not that it was summer there (sorry my bad and confusing). You're absolutely right the water was a bit chilly, however, I didn't find the isn't too cold for the most part. And I'd venture to say the tourists are less? I absolutely loved it, but I guess I could see arguments for other times of year!
