In one of your videos you talked about soil probiotics and prebiotics, that told me alot about what im doing wrong in terms of farming. I was wondering if there was anything you would recondemnt in terms of anuals and soil pro and prebiotics, because i would think that anual plants are like a prebiotic themselves so they wouldnt need too much preobiotics, but more probiotics to innoculate the soil.
@floridanaturalfarming3367
@floridanaturalfarming3367 20 сағат бұрын
I would use clean hay as a soil prebiotic as it is easily consumed, after seeds zebu manure is probably the best probiotic I have found but chopped up plant roots, soil aggregates, humus even earthworm castings will work, but again the best probiotic is a variety of seeds as many different varieties that included perennials, annuals, tree, herb, grass, et. al, all above mentioned used together would be best🐸❤️thank you

Our calves that stay on their mothers for long periods out grow the others which may have lost their mothers. We bottle feed such calves but the ones on their mothers grow at literally twice the speed. Love the video as always. Just sharing your knowledge is better than almost all KZbin channels. So I don’t think you have to worry in which direction your channel goes. It will always be appreciated by those who really want to understand how to properly grow plants.

5:57 game changer to stop watering. We stopped because locally it’s becoming an issue as our aquifer runs dry. In my opinion it was the best decision I’ve made so far I have to really think about what’s going on on my property now and I have to try to accumulate as much organic matter and water as possible or keeping living roots in the ground for as long as possible. It’s just a mine shift once you get it there’s no turning back.

People are slaves to water, it is a learned behavior, as a child in California we didn’t water anything except stuff in raised beds🐸I am surprised so many people water in Florida, especially perennials, a total waste of a vital resource that needs conservation🐸❤️thank you

19:59 I thought the reason people did biodynamic preps was to be self sustainable to be able to cultivate everything yourself on site in situ. Just like Korean Natural farming. It’s just like turn off though there are input ideas that do not allow you to stay in Scituate but there are workarounds for it it’s longer processes and you have to eliminate fermented plant juice and replace it with fermented plant extracts as it doesn’t require sugar. But then you have to consider that some climates don’t allow you to create all of the prep for a OHN so you’d have to cultivate plants indoors in order to even achieve the preps in some environments. So I get where you’re coming from The natural farming ideas makes sense but at times they also don’t make sense because people are trying to ship them across the country and they’re not actually following the principles of keeping things in situ.

I am planning on getting a decent size lot like yours, as you mentioned, it would be a ridiculous amount of work trying to mulch it with wood chips , it takes a full 7 days of work trucking and wheelbarrowing mulch just for a normal size house lot (.3 acre) , probably would cost several thousand to hire someone to wheelbarrow it all in (only access is a door size opening ), sure we mulched but at first and built alot of black soil but probably have enough now, i'm definitely glad to see your system working without all that extra work which could actually be wasted time, its not a good quality of life mulching too much like on a larger lot as recommended unless that is your job or something, great tour as always learned alot, i havent seen any of your shows for a while , ive been on food tours that kept me too busy to see youtube , its nice to relax and enjoy a walk through your orchard again ! good luck with the cold winter !

Hi Eric, Did you trim the flowers off your mango trees when they were young, or did you just let the tree decide whether to hold flowers/fruit? Back from Xmas travels. Great to listen to your video. That’s very deep for a “Well” ours is only 50ft deep . Very lucky when tested the long time drilling company said it was the purest water they had ever tested , 200 ppm . Doing some planting today and generally catching up. Things growing so fast here now we are getting some good rain combined with the heat. Will be interesting as our system grows to see how much more frost resistant and how much more the frosts are kept at bay. An old bushman’s trick is to hug a tree if you are cold and lost in the bush. As they naturally are a lot warmer than freezing air temperature. So makes sense that Food Forest will be warmer than open pasture or bare ground. Appreciate as always.

Awesome as always. You are 100% correct living roots are the best mulch. I saw a study recently that showed that living roots were up to 500% more efficient at turning soil around than compost or dead mulch. I’ve been super keen on living roots. Yes I use some chop and drop , but that’s just to help my system get going. We have an enormous mango tree on our place ( one of the few that were on our place on arrival) we have been harvesting lately and only got about 200 mangos. We have had well over a 1000 in years passed. I was thinking of giving it a major major prune this year as we simply can’t reach the mango. What’s your thoughts on pruning a tree like this. I’d find it offensive if someone said they would introduce hydroponics to my place. People are clueless, that’s for sure.

Pruning too much could prevent any fruit next year, you got all those cows, give it a bunch of manure, cow manure makes them fruit🐸sometimes I just have to laugh at some of the stuff people say, I am not sure what the infatuation with hydroponics, they thought they would grow Bananas that way, lol🐸❤️thank you, Happy New Year

A lot of people are saying that there is a very severe cold front coming in January. Projecting 20 degree weather to southern Florida. If something like this does happen will you do anything to protect certain species of trees and other plants you have or do you believe that since you have the correct microbiology your plants would survive without any help?

I get my weather from the news not what people are saying and the weather channel does not show below 40 and yes I will not do anything to protect the trees, it has been 31 here in Vero in the past and our Cacao held fruit to maturity without any issues. I do not stress during drought and I definitely do not stress from cool weather.🐸❤️Thank you
