Nick Mason is truly a brilliant drummer because he treats the drums as a musical instrument. That being said, I wouldn't agree with you that he is ever holding back when playing. He is untrained and doesn't have much in the way of "chops". So it isn't like he is capable of doing busier stuff and just choosing not to - he is playing to the max of his technical abilities. I think of him the same way that I think of Ringo Starr. They are two of the greatest precisely because they are musicians rather than technical drumming wizards.

As a fellow drummer/vocalist I wish I had learned either guitar or piano to actually write my own songs. Idk you're inspiration but you're style to me is heavy with mercury Rev, pixies, eels, Elliott Smith and many others please don't stop you have a good ear for tone and hook. Hey dude, just wanted to let you know that you are a great musician and i aspire to be like you, youve always been music forward and your covers and stuff are the type of music i like. I started watching with the time signature video. I wished i had the opportunity to do this but i dont have the recording equipment nor the space to play my acoustic drums any more. Hope this didnt seem like one of those weird ppls rants haha😂 but i just want you to know i appreciate the channel even if the views dont reflect what you are doing man.
