Saw re-sharpening is a pain. Especially on saws with smaller teeth.

A little advice to the beginners out there. Don't EVER back feed on a table saw. The teeth of the blade are coming up from the table on the backside of the blade and can lift the work. If this happens, whatever you're cutting will become a projectile and cause serious injury. Also, never rip thin parts without a push stick. Use the push stick to push the offcut between blade and the fence through the cut. Leaving the off cut between the blade and the fence can result in an ejection. A 10" saw blade has a linear speed of about 140mph.

I'm pretty sure those in the beginning were not bolts as spacers. Those are nuts.

An enlightening tutorial. Have four 1910 doors with yale lock holes and one with what looks like the effects of the Hulk’s fist that goes all the way through. This technique is perfect.

Loved this short-short video! The end result looks perfect. I have a couple repairs that would be best if they were made with dutchmen. Do you prefer a certain type of wood for this repair?

@@Middys1 it's really just about the bed size mostly. I would have installed frames under the mattresses to support adult weights.

I love it when woodworkers make videos comparing hand tools with power tools. Thank you. I even think that with a few added elements, we could argue that hand tools can get the job done faster than power tools for one-off projects: - much less sanding if at all - in most furniture projects, there is no need to actually bring the back face to exact thickness, let alone make it parallel or even smooth. The inside of my antique cupboard has rails and panels that are scalloped and rough. - no need to don a mask, ear or eye protection - no need to empty the dust collector bag - no downtime for oiling, resetting, dusting off, or when the irons need to be sent for resharpening and replaced - possibility to sneak short work sessions at odd hours when noise would be a big no-no - for one-off projects, the part where the machines can save time is just a fraction of the total time (drawing the plans, choosing lumber, rough sizing and optimizing the cut plan, dry fitting, glueing, installing the hardware, finishing, etc. are all done by hand anyway). Therefore the relative gain from using machines is much less than it looks. Obviously this only holds for one-off projects. For anything even mildly repetitive, machines can't be beat.

When crosscutting, never place the timber against the fence for the whole cut - should be a spacer connected to the fence at the beginning, so when the cut occurs, the timber isn’t against the fence….
