You guys crack me up, everyone has a complete work shop just hanging around to built a simple desk. Really.

I build way crazier stuff than this. If I were to make it off camera I COULD probably do it in a couple hours. But I stepped down my gear to make it for people that need them. I built a prototype on a livestream then made a second version to refine the design and the plans to simplify the execution of it. I know there are a lot of parents that need to get something put together quick to give their kids a space to work, but I wanted to be something they could brag about to there friends and feel good about.

@@WoodWorkLIFE Hopefully, as soon I get my everything out of storage, with the pandemic and trying to move it's been crazy.

I love the way the desks came out, especially with that pop of color. I was curious, it looks like a pretty large overhang on the front. I have a tendency to lean a bit on the front edge of my desk, have you noticed any issues with the desk wanting to tip at all or is the angle on the legs sufficient for keeping everything firmly planted in place?
@WoodWorkLIFE4 жыл бұрын
That is why the front legs splay out 12 degrees. The center of gravity is still pretty low and central. I made this design after watching a Roy Underhill episode about chairs design with Christopher Schwarz.

@@WoodWorkLIFE That's what I figured, I just wanted to see if that is what you experienced after building it. Great design and so quick too! I love the fact that it's made with basic supplies, but still has that element of thought and design behind it. Not just 4 legs and a top.

Ya, I built a prototype in a day and it turned out well and my younger daughter asked for one. I revised my design a bit and made a second one for the channel. I wanted to play with moving the center of gravity like in chair design.

@@WoodWorkLIFE I really should do more prototyping. I'm going to have to track down that Woodwright's shop episode.
