Your method of calculating approx cost is flawed AF. Fill up your tank, park (& run it) for the night, fill up the next day and see the gallons used. Simple, and much more accurate.

Your thermostat is faulty. Or your coolant temp sensor.

Almost 24 mpg is not horrible at all for a van. That is car mileage. How many mpg do you expect in a van?
@adanger30143 күн бұрын
You have climate control. Just set it to a temperature and hit auto. It will control the fan speed and air flow direction.

One question that I dont think was addressed is: how many minutes approximately did the engine run for during the test. Does the Sienna generate heat from resistance like an electic baseboard heater or does it have some form of heat pump that works with refrigerant. Great video BTW.

so... what is your normal MPG when driving at interstate speeds in the western US? A deer just wrecked our 2011. hoping to get a 2025 tomorrow. Excited about the hybrid, but not about the loss of power that the 6 cylinder gave us. We mostly go 21mpg driving 80 with a space case and bicycles.

3/4 of a tank is only good for 238 miles?? I drive a 1999 528iT that 380 miles on 3/4 of a tank and almost 500 miles on full. Very quiet, torquey motor. Watching this video makes me miss my Mazda MPV.

It’s bad for the engine to let it idle for hours.
@RickDeckardMemories6 күн бұрын
You definitely burned more than 1.55 gallons running idle overnight (yes, I understand it's a hybrid). Indicated range is just an approximate estimate, and fuel gauge is also approximate. It's not possible to calculate correctly based on this info. The only way to find out for certain is to sleep near a gas station and fill up completely full before and after - second fill up will be the answer. It's a bit strange to have 72° or 70° heated car AND a sleeping bag, but to each its own, I guess. Thanks for the video 👍

Can You imagine, in some EU countries to keep the engine on when parked up, is banned by law, We can be fined. For example in Poland according to the law, during winter, early morning when We have to scratch(clean)the windows from the ice, snow, we aren’t allowed to switch the engine on😂. You have to clean the windows first, turn your engine on later😂. The eco euro terror. All the best mate.

Very dangerous to sleep with car running it can easily kill you. ..if you have full electric ot if hybrid lasts without launching the engine then you should be okay.

Very nice build for your van one of the best I've seen yet thank you so much for sharing this I've got a lot of great ideas I have a Nissan and me 200 2017 I think I'm going to go with a Hybrid Toyota Sienna like you have because you can leave the van running and use the AC or heat and it won't take too much gas that was great information on that great build very practical I love the bed setup
