Seems to be a common problem with the ER using imaging as their physical exam. Often also used as a progress note.

About four years ago, I had a cancerous polyp removed from my colon and I want to thank God and Dr. David Diehl for literally saving my life, as the cancer didn't go through the colon as he was able to get all of it out!! Just completed my most recent colonoscopy and everything looks fine so far! Waiting on the lab report but so far, all the recent labs have been negative! The surgical staff are TOTALLY professional and very kind! Geisinger is my favorite hospital! I HIGHLY recommend it!!

It’s OK. Google engineers are currently putting the finishing touches on their AI software that will do this job faster and with better accuracy. So these people can get outside and get some fresh air and some sun.

.. AI Software that won't function on actual patients with bodies and problems outside of the training data. Radiology is a hard job, but it's one that will always have to be done by a human in some capacity, even if it's reduced to quality control on AI suggestions.

I worked in an ER for 30 years. Radiologists are incredibly valuable members of the patient care team. Their technology and skills have dramatically improved the quality of medical care. There are many, may patients that I have cared for that are alive and well, thanks to the skills of radiologists.

When I was an undergrad, I visited an alumnus from my school who is a radiologist. I just wanted to chat with him and ask questions about possible career choices. He answered me while looking at the screen the whole time in a dark room, just as shown in this video. It blew my mind how these people work.

There is neural network named Alpha Zero which learns from it's own mistakes and the mistakes of others. Once they figure out how to get it to read radiographs and EKG's, it will probably replace humans. albeit slowly over time
