I've been a reseller on eBay since early 2000's. I take lots of photos, describe things to the best of my ability, mention any flaws. I do global shipping through ebay. I ship out right away and don't charge any handling fees. I sometimes offer free shipping depending on the sale of the item. If it's something small and I make a lot of money on it, I offer free shipping and insurance. Personally, I don't take returns but that's why I do a detailed description and urge that they ask questions prior to bidding or buying. I'm happy to share anything else with you or answer any questions. You find some really cool stuff!

I highly recommend looking into a tool called a point driver, to shoot in those flexible tabs on the backs of picture frames and art. I struggled for several years using other methods (nails, glazier points, duct tape, etc.). The point driver is definitely worth the investment - it makes putting art back together in frames so easy! I bought a Logan brand, but that was pre-Covid. I see now their prices are much higher than when I purchased, but there are other brands available that cost less.

Re the inkwell: the glass turns purple from exposure to the sun due to the sort of "sand" used in making the glass bottle, I think.

Hi Melanie! I've been selling on ebay for over 5 years. Books for me are hit and miss but I would just say make sure you research what's listed and what has sold to help you. The final value fees for books are now 15.3% starting Feb 14. My husband and I went to Fayetteville yesterday for a doctors appointment and stopped in Potter's House Thrift afterwards. Oh my have the prices gone up! I'm having a hard time finding things to resell here in the Fort Smith area and I thought NWA would be better but I pretty much left empty handed. Only bought books and paper ephemera for my junk journal making. God bless!

Dinah Shore was a singer, and was known for (among other things) singing a jingle for Chevy ads on TV -“See the USA in your Chevrolet”. . . probably late 50’s, early 60’s. She also dated Bert Reynolds for awhile, but you probably don’t know who he is either!

You probably know that, but prices in London are higher than anywhere else in England. To get the best prices, you need to go to small towns, preferably the non touristy ones.

The sad thing about reselling copyrighted items is that Disney already made their money off selling the item but they don't want a reseller to make any money off of it.

I've been watching you for many years and have always enjoyed and learned a lot from you. I watch Andi all the time too, and saw her video last night. I want to start an on line shop hopefully in March. It has helped hearing everything you gals have done and how you have done it. I have had several booths at our local antique mall for many years and love it, but I am ready to try on line. Keep up the good work and good luck to a lot more profitable year in 2025! I will be watching 😃

Congratulations! That is something to be very proud of, especially, considering that you are putting in approx. 15 hrs. per week. I just stumbled onto your channel and am now a subscriber. Really enjoyed this video Melanie. Especially as someone who used to do antique booths (I’ve had 4 in the past) vintage markets (also sold at Junk Rabch!) as well as online, then went strictly online several years ago it was good to see the breakdown. Physically selling at a booth/vintage market just got to hard for me. Also I always felt the antique booths just didn’t get the same traffic compared to millions of people online and I could actually price higher online. So I gave up big items and now just sell online almost every category (with exceptions of categories I hate, electronics, glass, a few others). Your videos are always informative and interesting and wishing you the best in 2025!

I’ve always been told if you sell too cheap, people won’t shop your booth but if you price a bit higher, people will buy. Do you find this true?
@LostFoundDecor
@LostFoundDecor 2 күн бұрын
To an extent, yes! You can't just price things crazy, but if you price things super cheap you do tend to create a brand that feels "cheap" and will attract more frugal customers. If you create a brand that feels more expensive, it will help to attract a higher level of shopper

Good morning Melanie. What a great video. I am currently watching this again and look forward to all of your videos. Some observations and questions....first, what do you think are the factors that increased your online sales for your website? ( I ask because I would like to add that as a revenue stream. I feel like I need to grow my followers on FB and IG in order to have even a little success in selling on line. Not easy getting followers.) What other factors might have weight on your online sales? Also going to try adding a KZbin. And no it's not easy. And yes consistency is an absolute must along with quality. Everything about KZbin seems to be a challenge but I'm will to jump in and give it a shot. (I have been along side my son watching him grow his classic auto restoration channel on youtube this past year.) You have a ton of subscribers on your channel and across your pages so don't beat yourself up too much. That's hard work in itself. Something I hope to be successful in acheiving. The followers are just one part of the big equation. This video inspires me to continue striving towards my goals. Seeing what you've shared in your financials shows that it is possible to do this and make a living. Which is my goal (it has to pan out for me). Your bootcamp class was what gave me the tools and mindset to start out right! I took the class back in 2023 and refer to the extensive notes I took often. I was on a wait list for my booth space when I took the class and got the call in March of 2023 for a space in May. 2023. And then got a call in February 2024 to expand next door to myself and I jumped on it! Its been wonderful having the two spaces. I've spent the last year figuring it out and applying all the bootcamp knowledge. I'm hoping to "knock it out of the ball park" from here on out. Thanks for all that you share. Tami

Hey Tami! Driving traffic to an online store is a long game for sure. I decided last year to really focus on building this new store how I built my last one--writing blog articles about a related topic, putting that on Pinterest, and linking to my online shop in those articles. Then giving people a chance to join my email list. Most of my online sales come after I send an email :) That's just one way to do it. Building a social media following is another. Just talking about it over, and over, and over again! And with KZbin, I think consistency is the key. All it takes is for one video to get picked up by the algorithm and you can see a lot of growth. I think you can do it!

So I run my business books using Quickbooks, which gives me an EOY inventory number. But for my own daily use, I just have a notebook where I write down what I buy, what I paid for it, what I sell it for, and where it sells. It's not fancy but it works for me :)

Hello Melanie - you are answer to a prayer❤ I’m SO thankful for this video and your content! I am seriously thinking of entering the booth world (there’s a little shoppe owner in me) 😊 One quick question to you or anyone: is it typical for a mall to require booth sellers to work a day or 2 per month (or pay addl $200/ per month)? ~Joanna
@LostFoundDecor
@LostFoundDecor 4 күн бұрын
Hey there! So that depends, my current mall doesn't do that but my first mall did. And I actually don't think it's a bad idea! Those work days gave me a chance to network with other dealers and also see what was selling first hand. Then after a while, I was offered the chance to run the register on those days and then got a rent credit. So if your schedule could allow it, I don't think it's a terrible idea. Hope that helps!
