Will the Speed bleeder SB8125L work on both Left and right front brakes?
@PacMoto19 күн бұрын
For a R1250GS the Speed Bleeder website says SB1010S for the rear, SB8125L for the right front, and SB6100 on the left front.

Thanks Kurt. One suggestion: while you have the caliper off, take a moment to inspect the slider pins. At 18K miles, my 2022 definitely needed some attention. Clean them up and apply high-temperature brake grease-it only takes a few minutes. I noticed some premature and uneven lining wear on mine, which I suspect was due to the slider pins.

If you are only replacing rear brake pads there is no need to remove the caliper, only if you want to do a cleaning. But if you take out the caliper you must use Thread lock compound to the T40 screws (manual says to replace the screws too)
@kellyburton6698Ай бұрын
Shouldn't the ABS sensor be removed and tied back safely out of the way? Also......you NEVER use a torque wrench to break loose any bolts, otherwise great vid and thanks for making it. :)
@PacMotoАй бұрын
I will tie back the calipers and brake sensor if it will be a day or more before I finish the job. Curious why you think one should never use a torque wrench to loosen bolts. Thanks for the feedback.
@BrianBurton-b7zАй бұрын
@@PacMoto a torque wrench is designed/intended to torque only, IF you use a torque wrench to loosen bolts, you MUST set the range much higher than the tightening torque, if you do that.......there's a much better chance it wont throw off the calibration or worse damage it. I only use a breaker bar or a 1/2 inch drive ratchet for loosening bolts, and any legit master mechanic would likely cringe at the thought of someone using a torque wrench like that. Love your vids, they have been very helpful for me on my 17 GS already. Cheers.....🙂

Neat video. Not sure about leaving the panels on the bike by removing only the screws to release the next panel. I do this procedure twice a year on my RT and take the opportunity to remove all the Tupperware to clean the bike and check all the cable connectors. It really doesn’t take much longer and mitigates the risk of the panel getting damaged by being flexed against the remaining screws. Still, you’re right that it’s a faff to do the strip down and re-assembly, but it’s worth it to save money and do a more thorough job than most dealers would. The one that bugs me most with the current RT models is the battery replacement - it’s ’conveniently’ located behind the right hand side panels and even once the panels are off it’s a bu66er to get out! The previous models from 2005-2014 had the battery behind the tank under the front seat. Also much easier to get jump start leads onto the terminals. Still, it’s all part of the fun of owning and maintaining RTs! Keep up the good work!
