I really enjoyed this conversation. Families have thoughts about their kids playing at the next level, but are often unaware of the steps and benchmarks to compare their children to. The sprinting piece is so crucial. I was a D1 sprinter and now coach high school girls track. I definitely focus on building sprint speed and capacity through proper technique, improving their bodies ranges of motion and sprinting at max velocity. Timing our max velocity sprints weekly did wonders for increasing our team speed. We ran 30m and 30m Flys every Tuesday, ranked the girls and published the results. It created more competition and gave the girls a chance to see how they progressed throughout the season. Keep these discussions coming brothers ✊🏾

Can you elaborate why it seems like more college kids are coming home?

More kids are coming home because they are not properly prepped to handle the volume and intensity of a collegiate athletic life, they struggle with one, some or all of the following, competition level, intensity and volume of training, time management of athletic and study commitments, and the emotional maturity to communicate their struggle to get the appropriate help.

What a fighter Andre Ward is. The super six tournament was a meat grinder of killers, and Ward made his fights look easy. Against other hall of fame fighters, too. Bravo Sir!
