The gen 3 added dropper post internal routing. My wife started to do some single track with hers so we popped on a PNW dropper and it was a big deal for her. So gen 3 is more flexible with changes to what you may or may not have planned to do with your bike. Longer follow-up to that is that my wife really likes single track and we ended up buying a fuel ex for her. She uses the marlin gen3 on days we just go for casual paved hike and bike trails to burn calories or for flow trails.

You are confusing yourself because you failed to understand gen 2 vs gen 3 are different frames with different geometries. The “2025” is model year designation, whereas “gen 3” is frame design version designation. New model year gen 3 may or may not have components upgrades on the same frame, it can be just new colors added, which is very typical for Trek. If they didn’t change frame geometry design from gen 3, it is still gen 3, not gen 4.

Yeah I get that, it's still a silly system to hide late orders in 2020
@Chan18813 күн бұрын
My guess for why they don’t call this newest version the Gen 4? They don’t want to devalue the Gen 2 or older Gen 3 any further than they have to… until they clear out more of the older stock.
@goodluckchrisclark3 күн бұрын
That's exactly right they want us to believe everything is brand new or just barely old, not 5 year old versions

I'll be looking at one in 2 weeks the gentleman is going on vacation he's got many bikes it seems like it's a bit more than a hobby for him but he does fix up the bikes I'm not saying it turns them up I don't know but a lot of the bikes list new and different parts on them he has many bikes and different price ranges so I'll be looking at the track 8:20 for $240 I can probably date it by figuring out approximately the paint scheme in the years Lenny Scott a giant Rincon I had one before mine look more like a dirt jumper this one's got a different frame that one is $180 I believe of course I'm going to lick his inventory online and see if there's anything else I might consider I did like my Trek 3700 better than the giant Rincon it was just the quality of the components and of course I love bontrager

Bad test. Real puncture does not leave a nice, perfect hole for the dart to go through. The head of the dart is not exactly small. Wonder if it goes in easy on a real life puncture.

At 5'10" and 280 lbs. I needed a comfortable fitness bike. I bought the Dual Sport 3 Gen 5 in May 2024 because of its comfortable riding position and price. I was super happy with everything except for one thing: the Trek site showed the model with tan sidewall versions of the GR-ZERO tires, which are not available anywhere on planet earth. That was annoying. After taking Mounjaro for six months, I am now 190 lbs. I switched out the GR-ZERO tires for fast-rolling Pirelli Centurato gravel tires and use it exclusively for fitness riding on pavement. I bought a Roscoe 8 because my preteen son is getting into trail riding, and his fat old dad can now ride comfortably with him. The Dual Sport 3 is an excellent value, and I don't see myself ditching it for an expensive road bike or high-end carbon fiber FX Sport 4/5/6 anytime soon. The FX Sport 6 is about five pounds lighter, which is great but not for an extra $1,700.

I doubt, that an average biker maxes out the mtb transmission. This goes easily to 50 km/h. In comparison, the gravel transmission goes to 60 km/h. And to be honest, if you are not going downhill of if you are not riding on tarmac, you will be slower than 50 km/h or 30 mph

Im not spending 4000$ for a moutain bike. I will go to a thrift store and get one. Bring it home and fix it up. I dont have to worry about anything breaking. I will not be doing anything crazy. When i bought my bike that was a lot of money.

I think you just convinced me to get this bike, better start saving. It was either this or the hardtail, rear suspension only ever hurt my fractured back so I stayed with ahardtail and my knees for rear suspension but if this is made for comfort Im sold.

If you can try a Husky FE250 vs the 300. Both are enduros. 300 is obviously fast compared to the Fe250. I went small bore 2 stroke to Fe250 and love it. The sound, the tight way the engine feels. It’s really nimble and playful. It revs to 14k. It’s not fast fast but still more competitive than most riders capability for hare and hounds. I’d be tempted to go to FE350 just for even more power but I don’t want to give up the playful nature of the 250 and think the 350 might feel too much in the woods.
