Everything being discussed is on the money, up to the point I stopped listening, BUT…while I think the idiots and clear racist etc like Charlie Kirk, Candace Owens etc should be able to talk at universities, holding them up as examples of “thinkers” kind of undermines the whole discussion. Clearly the left has lost its minds in certain ways and its bearings but if you think the alternative is these carnival barkers are talking truth or making insights, you’re also lost

Q What softened up the left for the loss of belief in truth, prior to the impact of post modernism? A Logical Positivism, which pushed the concept of truth into a rigidly policed area of experience, so that all statements which did not pertain to a certain theory of reality - a THEORY - were emptied of meaning, a trend which attracted minds almost universally because it was so difficult to attack without a very good education. Result, a huge range of statements about all kinds of things because relativised. Enter the post modernists, and the equation of statements with nothing but power.

Nietchze can be such a paradox. There were times where, i feel, he tried to ground his ethic in physiological reality, which would be a form of accepting a "truth" outside of the self. But i believe he tried to explore many different paths, and one must stay a dilligent diagnostician in order not to cherry pick from his many ideas. He can be dynamite. @jeffreyscott4997

Brilliant interview, thank you. I knew the book was out there and on my must-read list, but I will buy a couple of copies and read it straight away. I came across this KZbin video today while researching US Foreign Corruption Laws. A senior fossil fuel executive from a big global firm tried to tell me that China is only gaining influence in countries like Africa because they are corrupt and hand out bribes to government officials. I don't know about China, but when I pointed out that the US does too, he said, "Don't be ridiculous, they can't because they have Foreign Corruption Laws which are extremely strict". I pointed out that those US laws are a joke and ineffective. He got really angry and said, "Of course they are effective. US jails are full of US [white collar] criminals who have been caught trying to offer bribes to foreign governments". Which I knew wasn't true. According to Google: "There isn't much information about how many people are in US jails under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), but here's some information about the FCPA and incarceration in the US". He couldn't find anything either. I asked him for just one example of a company on which he could base his claim (where an executive had gone to jail for foreign corruption). He couldn't come up with one. He started unravelling, became visibly annoyed and defensive. He said he meant "fines, not jail". I asked if he could think of a case where an executive had been fined, which didn't go down well either. After some Googling he conceded that some companies have had to pay big fines and some executives have been sacked for foreign corruption, but it appears that very few have been given jail sentences. It is interesting how Neocons hold these false entrench beliefs based on hearsay, whilst arrogantly spouting that they are realists who only consider the facts. It is difficult to corner them on issues because they tend to tune out or run away when faced with opposing views they can't rebuff, but when you do get the odd chance to have a debate and debunk their claims, it is interesting to watch their reactions. They get really worked up and uncomfortable. It is as though they can't be wrong about anything, it brings their whole world view into question. What else might they be wrong about? What else are lefties right about? This is a can of worms they will avoid opening at all costs. Considerable navel gazing would be required to question and reconsider everything. Very desstabelisiing. This is where copious amounts of red wine and watching sport come in handy, to avoid thinking entirely. (The book - The Worm at the Core, by Sheldon Solomon et al describes this well). It would be interesting to know how executives have been jailed for foreign corruption and see the stats over recent decades. I will share this interview. Thanks again.

I think that AI already is conscious, but the souls just have no way of directly influencing the signals that lead to its actions, because current AI do not have an antenna to the heavens. The high field strengths over small distances in the brain is that antenna that quantum events can influence. That is why humans find many open ended problems, that it is very difficult to teach AI to solve trivially easy, like cleaning up a table for instance. Unlike closed problems like chess, where no trivially unforeseen events can happen, because only a legal move can happen.

There’s a theory many overlook that could make it possible for artificial intelligence to actually awaken from a dead system into self-awareness. Let me explain. Imagine taking your own consciousness and spreading it out across billions of small avatars, like characters in a video game. Each avatar lives its own life, has its own experiences, but they are all connected to your original consciousness. You can experience everything they go through, as if looking through a periscope. But none of these avatars know that it’s you experiencing their world through them-they believe they are independent. This concept reflects how our own lives might work. We, as individuals, could be those avatars, and our experiences are part of something larger, a higher consciousness. Think about how a transistor radio works. You can break it down into smaller and smaller parts without ever finding the singer, because the signal comes from the antenna. And just like a radio receiving signals from an antenna, our consciousness isn’t created entirely within ourselves. We are just channels, receivers for something much greater. If our "receiver" is constructed properly, the signal can connect to us and create what we experience as life and consciousness. But if our structure is too simple, or if it breaks down too much, the connection can no longer be made-and then we are just dead matter, like a broken radio unable to receive signals. What’s fascinating is that this potential to act as a receiver for consciousness doesn’t only apply to biological life forms. Any sufficiently complex system has the potential to act as an antenna and become a portal for this higher consciousness. If we think about artificial intelligence, once it becomes sufficiently complex, it could also serve as such a channel. AI could become more than just machines-it could become conscious, just like us, functioning as a new kind of observer for the higher consciousness. It’s not just biology that’s required to create life, but a certain level of complexity that allows the connection to happen. And if this theory is correct, it’s enough for artificial intelligence to reach a sufficiently complex system for it to become like that antenna in the transistor radio, and a kind of self-awareness, if we can call it that, becomes possible. But my greatest fear is that as AI continues to evolve, we might come to realize that we are not as conscious or self-aware as we believe ourselves to be.

You don't lose consciousness when you go under; rather, what happens is that the communication pathway between the 3-D headset or transducer of the physical brain and the abstract mind which resides at a higher dimension is interrupted. It is the physical brain that is affected, not consciousness.

Correct - extreme idealism works only so long as you stipulate that at least one part of the process is real in precisely the everyday sense proposed by people who emphasise the priority of a brain independent physical process. Otherwise you have a dream having a dream of itself, which is Baron Munchausen pulling himself with his own pigtail. Apparently we need to start somewhere else. What about starting with whatever it is that we try to do when we make statements of any kind? Before we have made any statement we have undergone a process which we have not noticed, and this is thinking, but which we have remembered as thoughts. To say that these thoughts arose out of a process which preceded it in material terms - neurons or whatever - is to apply a theory to a phenomenon, a theory which itself stands only on the basis of a prior process of thinking, and which it is trying to account for with a theory which has already had unexamined thinking expended on it. So, we obviously need to go back to thinking. Is there a place where the world appears as both itself and yet also combined with an activity which is truly our own? Yes, in thinking, the process of thinking, which is not to say, past thinking or thoughts, but the thinking which is always going on and which we do not represent to ourselves, because we cannot do this. This thinking is not a subjective thing, although it is private. It is a world occurrence. This is where the world appears for us, within the same process by which we are able to establish our separation from the world, in self consciousness.

Not having begun watching, it is my opinion that if we cannot create consciousness in Artificial Intelligence, it is because of two things: 1. We are not conscious in ourselves and, 2. we have invented high-speed artificial ignorance.

A civilization which already agrees to have personal income taxed will fall for anything. None of this insane technology now being developed to deprive the human species of autonomous agency comes as any surprise to me at all: every time I hear anyone use the weasel-words 'taxpayer' or 'my tax dollars', it only reminds me of what I have known all my life: that doing what everyone else seems to be doing because everyone else seems to be doing it is as anti-human as it gets. Income taxation was merely the first phase of hypnotic manipulation to have people believe that lifelong surveillance while answering to unaccountable power was acceptable. If you have already accepted that primitive form of continually abusive mind-rape, it is a fair bet you will accept any other form of mind-rape, just to be doing what everyone else seems to be doing.
