The truth is there are 2 billion Dutch people but we have only room for 17 million in the country so the rest has to stay abroad untill they can rotate with one of the 17 million when that one goes on holiday!

1:39 You just eat your herring holding it at the tail above your head: 👄🐟👌You could add a little chopped onion, but no other bullshit and no need to cut it in pieces. It's one of the best things in life, especially during herring season, which will be there in just a few weeks 🤤🐟🐟🐟 I'm from Rotterdam though.. up north they do all kinds of weird stuff with their herring I believe.. 🙄

The Dutch are way too quick with the "just being honest" card. Truth is that you can be honest without being very rude, the Dutch just suck at it. In all of your examples the common thing is that you have to somehow convince yourself that the person being rude to you also cares about you. Now call me a snowflake, but I don't want to have to imagine that my friends actually like me, I like them to show it.

The dutch people are direct because they are taught to speak and argument since they were child. Because when they were child, they were given by parents to argument, the dutch children become the happiest kids in the world

Don't be so sensitive Mark. Nobody's accusing Duch people of being bad people. It’s just a cultural uniqueness that people in Holland like to save money on small things which I have respect for and have taken on myself. Some people take it too far and you know what I'm talking about.

I'll call it cheap, I lived in holland for over a decade. Many things I loved there. Something that gets really irritating is this sport cheapness. People take it to the next level. Pouring down frozen rain? Take a bicycle. Go to the club, people still wearing thier jackets because it costs 1 euro to store your jacket. Lunch? 2 slices of bread, 12 micrograms of butter and a slice of cheese. I get saving money, thats fine but Holland goes too far. Obviously not everyone.

Nope! We are generous. Those bracelets are worth $ 0.10 and we give them $ 0.50 out of generosity. With it, they can support the entire family, without ruining the local economy. What do you think dad would do if his little son came home with $ 20,00? Produce bracelets, or buy a bottle?

The Netherlands ranks very high when it comes to donating money to charities and emergency funds for disasters. At the same time the Dutch will raise hell if they gave you €20 and expect €0,10 change and they're not getting it back.

This is total bullshit! We spend 1,5 miljard euro on development aid. 500 million on refugees. We paid non military support for Ukraine about 252 million. Many of us opened our homes to give these women and childeren a safe place to stay. Many of us chose to pay the bills for them; but also these refugees didn't have to pay a lot of the taxes we Dutch do have to pay. We gave some 25 million euros to the palastinians and I can post many more examples. The truth is that the Dutch are extremely generous and caring people. The Netherlands is the eighth-most charitable country in the world, with an overall score of 53%. The Netherlands, like the U.K., has the second-highest donation rate in the world of 71%. Over the past decade, the level of giving has been slightly more stable in the Netherlands than it has in the other high scoring European countries, the U.K. and Ireland. Levels of giving have ranged from 51% to 56%. All the other countries have more inhabitants though... Also a fun fact, American, we are the number two on exporting food in the world. Imagine what we would do if we had the amount of land that you possess...You are actually very incompetent. We send our engineers your way to fix your flooding problems. Meanwhile two third of our small country would be unliveable because we reclaimed large parts of it from the sea... And that little fact sets us back billions of euro each year. And still the Netherlands is an economic powerhouse. Also did you know we are about a decade more advanced in the creation of machines that make your microchips?

Historically we are a trading country. Our industry is internationally oriented. We also watch foreign movies with dutch subtitles. It results in being used to hear foreign languages from young age, seeing lots of different sceneries, cultures. Next to Dutch, most people also have english as a second language and several are able to handle another language like German, French, Spanish. We read books in other languages at school. Germany, UK, Belgium, France are relatively close and easy to travel to by car, train, bus. We even shop in those countries. This all normalizes travel and makes a person curious and wanting to visit also more remote countries.

I was really surprised to not see a single person having offered a reply on Dutch directness for the question his friend asked... especially as I figured the people known for their "directness" would not shy away from answering his question. Perhaps that man was just rude after all! 😂

I got 3 bikes. Because of reasons. The reasons being that I thought one frame was irreparably damaged, so I got another one, then I found a workaround for the first bike. Then I got more demanding for some technical characteristics for my main bike, so I got another bike with more appropriate specs. However the first bike is customized so much for my taste, I still end up using it a lot. I do not currently own a bar bike, or a railway station bike. Give it time.

It's because the Netherlands is a pretty boring country (my opinion). For both nature lovers and city people almost every other country is more beautiful. The Netherlands is very densely populated. So it doesn't have very large nature areas (besides the Veluwe). There are no mountains. It doesn't have big wildlife like bears, bison, moose and lynxes as many other European countries have. And the Netherlands also doesn't have very big cities compared to the many other countries. Amsterdam is very small compared to many other capitals. I didn't even say something about the weather. Btw, I'm from the Netherlands myself. We like to travel, because almost every other country is more beautiful. We just want to enjoy nature and/or big cities. I probably even want to move abroad in the future.

4:38 it’s so incredibly nice and polite for you to say but after 30 years being a psychologist travelled in several countries US included Europe several assholes are everywhere and nice people are the majority but when you settle in in a village or a big town then you filter out who really is positively involved with you and not so creepy people are everywhere and nice people are also everywhere and the moment you settling and really travelling but really connect to the surroundings then a network of mob like thoughts and sentences and people showing others who they are and how their links and then the one thing comes up is wealth and poverty.
