Pontiac, and underrated, are synonymous. The 13 to 1 compression super duty 421 in '62 or '63 was rated at 410 HP. Most experts over the last 60 years have said that engine was actually over 500 HP. And one those early '60s NASCAR seasons , Pontiacs won 49 of 53 races. 1 4 bbl, or 2 4 bbls on your 421, take your pick

Driven mostly Pontiacs like my Dad did from 1955 on. I've never had a ram air IV., only what Ive read, Gawd does that thing rev high and quickly moreso than other Pontiacs. You couldn't get with A/C if I'm not mistaken.

Chevy needs to revive this Camaro philosophy for the street, they put an insanely underrated at 430 hp racing engine in a base RS. Things actually had like 530 hp, the Mustang was rated at 335 or 385 I can’t remember but they were actually mid 400hp. The LT1 model is a good idea, but how about a ZL1 with the 755 Hp/715 ftlb LT5 with 7 speed manual or 10L90, then do it again with the 670 hp N/A LT6 from C8Z, maybe call it Z/28. Since all will be electric soon go out with a cloud of burnt gasoline bang. Just say they only have 455 hp while your at it 😉

The Catalonia weight about the same as the GTO. It seems odd, because the Catalonia is bigger, but most of the weight on a car body is in the corners. Down the center of the body, and in the middle, there isn't a lot of weight. The Catalonia was a post car, and a stripped down model

Copo for the dubb. Fantastic race of the original big skreet burners. Love and respect for both cars. Sad that this free country is trying to stop you from driving these cars because of global warming in the summer and cooling in the winter. Who would have known we were causing the seasons. Somehow my size 15 is causing it. How will charging stations get power for these Chinese cars again? YouTurd bot activate.

The Pontiac 400 and 455 had very broad torque bands at low rpm which made them ideal street engines. Hemis etc make peak power at high rpms which make them great track engines but not good street engines where street encounters last 5seconds! The later year 455s were tuned for low end torque which made them seem fast for the avarage driver. However, they ran out of breath in the1/4 mile because they ran a lean mixture.

Hemis ruled the street, if you have a manual trans you can make the power where you want it...

@@lukemeier1853 you have no idea what you are talking about. A fast revving small block in a light car with steep gearing is best on the street. My 340 duster with a 4.10 gear would beat any street hemi light to light.

@@burningblue1254 Dude, you are stupid, there are multiple criteria for how a car hooks up, revs, and wins races. There's an old saying that every real racer knows, that torque wins races. Just watch videos of classic car drags, quarter mile or 8th mile is what everybody does in the drag race. The small blocks can't even compete. I've been building and racing cars for 40 years so shut up, you're an idiot....and totally wrong. In the sixties the fastest stock factory quarter miles for normal passenger cars was set by a hemi cuda and a Buick GS 455. Fact. Both Big blocks. The 426 hemi revs like a small block as does the 427 side oiler in the cobra which was the fastest of all. Not a small block in sight. Your 340 duster couldn't touch a properly prepped hemi..... clown....lol....
