Who would’ve thought, Martha Argerich and Sylvia McNair on the same stage. Not surprising, given that both were among Abbado’s favorite collaborators, but still. I SO wish Argerich had done more Mozart, besides a few concertos.

Aparte del hecho de que es una pianista genial, creo que no hay otro musico clásico con una colección tan grande de presentaciones, colaboraciones con otros musicos, entrevistas, libros y documentales en su haber. Coinciden su emorme talento , con su éxito y su fama.

She will play this concerto in Rotterdam in two weeks. My biggest fear is that she will change the program at the last minute. If I am correct, she has not been playing Bartok for quite a while.?

@@daniels7052 I feel she won't play it again for a long time. However, Martha keeps surprising everybody by bringing back things so she can surprise us. I was also amazed that Martha played a concerto with a score. Her vulnerability makes her even more natural and human as an artist :)

Amazing music played by the amazing Martha. Only one reservation to make about this video; this is a piece of extraordinary technical virtuosity throughout. So why was the camera ever taken off her awesome hands, even for a moment? Video producers sometimes seem to forget the purpose of videos, and fail to appreciate that much of the piano-lover's pleasure is visual as well as auditory. Just watch any group of people gathered round the piano in everyday life. None of them look anywhere but at the pianist's hands.

For me the most effective reading was the one she did most recently in 2020, though this certainly has fire abound. The 2020 recording for me had just that slight more breathing room and expansiveness that this work can benefit from too, I equally love the sokolov reading you can find on KZbin. The third sonata is one of the miracles of piano music, and contains everything in and has always been one of my favourite things to play, astonishing difficulty aside. Again Charles thank you for sharing - and the Prokofiev from 1966! Is that the only recording to exist from that, was it a recital? Or radio feature? I always look forward to your uploads.

The whole of Mozart's output for 4 hands piano is extremely lovely ( plus the 2 piano sonata K 448 !! ) - Still ..... I retain so strongly in my mind the old Eschenbach-Frantz recorded version that I cannot completely appreciate this energetic Argerich-Pires . In EF version the slow movement become absolutely heavenly, a balm for the soul !!
