This camera angle is absolutely fantastic for observing her unsurpassed technique - the ease at which her fingers move is astonishing, and from here you can really see how efficient she is in terms of motion and angles of attack. There will never be another like her!

Her left hand in this piece is God. Makes the whole piece way more lucid.

Argerich takes on Prokofiev's gloriously youthful excess. Prokofiev would have loved this performance, utterly breathtaking, the crazy momentum sustained . Many thanks Charles, I prefer this to the "official" video.

Charles, thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into all the wonderful work you have done with Martha’s incredible talent. No one knows whether she watches, or is even aware that these things are online. But those of us who follow her are so grateful for what you do. So, thank you again…..from everyone who watches.

Once again, Charles, an example of MA's impossible to pin down brilliance. And our collective thanks to you for so generously preserving it on film and for sharing it. The famous MA 'ease' that Kovacevich frequently comments on has never been bettered then here. 'Beyond comprehension' to complete SK's observation. Thank you, Charles, and Happy Easter, Hywel x

That was amazing. Thank you for posting it. That piece has always been one of my favorites and it's infrequently performed. I never before watched anyone play it. Rabinovitch took it at a breakneck pace, but Argerich nailed it -- and at 1:00 in the morning!

It’s well known that Martha is a night owl. Imagine if all her concerts were at 1 am. They’d all be more magical than normal.

I believe Martha was skilled in Kung Fu. Her hand movements were so quick that they were almost invisible to me.

@Charles is normal for a person like Martha with no "academic" training in music to develop such an advanced level of technical skills on the piano?
@lukevraffanti2 жыл бұрын
It’s totally normal, which is why there are so many of Martha’s caliber running around!

@@lukevraffanti how do you explain it? Innate talent? She also doesn’t seem to have been a pianist with an obsessive practice approach ~ once she said that she has rarely played scales and other classic training exercises. I am so fascinated because there are has always been the conversation about innate genius, predisposition, or perhaps just more brain plasticity. I think Martha has a lot of increased brain plasticity due to her knowledge of several languages and such hands dexterity. I wish someone could do a deep MRI to better understand but I don’t think she would agree to that 🙃🙃
