My only issue is how this game is balanced around raids and the fact buff skills are meant for raids and a joke for everything else mostly, second the gameplay loop got stale fast every class just starts feeling like the same overall which is a big negative since I just power level and hunt/dungeons everything else was meaningless to me and not much glamour or cosmetics interest me to begin with :L I actually liked hanging out with people while helping them level through dungeons with certain queue times

So this is the end of FFXIV huh? its all downhill from here when Tencent shows up. I cant wait for the mobile game monetization to show up in the PC version down the line and ruin all of it. and how the hell will the mobile players even play the game properly with the rest of us on PC? every class has at least 15-20 buttons. there is not a phone on earth that has enough space for that.

16 is definitely better praised than was 15 15 had so much riding on it that it fell flat to most fans I was one of those I love all the work and improvement that were made to 15 and I like 15 now as a game But the long wait from the first trailer up until its release The hype of it living up to Versus 13 The development hell it went to The massive PR push and advertising and multiple source of media that was given to 15 just for a solid game was what led to its downfall 16 felt like a natural release It came out 3 years after it’s first trailer The development was smooth It was advertised well and it was a solid game but it was overhyped

The mobile aspect does work Just not with the commercially wide known console as such a mobile phone, it does work with the idea of a steam deck; it does take some setting up but it does actually fully work! I myself show it off to friends to try and entice them to play FFXIV :D

You mentioned you didnt think any one character was bad. I had to do a double take because my mind immediately went to Jill. I get it. This is Clive's story. But her importance to his life is shoved behind several sidequests and barely speaks up in the main story. Disappointing.
@MoreLimitless_

@@ImGonnaFudgeThatFish No, I do not think her character is bad. She and many other characters have very little screen time compared to Clive, and I even mention that she doesn’t get enough in the latter half of the game. However she isn’t a badly written character at all, just very misused after her Drakes Breath. That could also be said about many characters in this game besides Clive simply because it technically is Clive’s journey here more than it is any one else.

@@BAustinize I don’t want it to become like Destiny. I was giving aspects of the game I think it could take some inspiration from. Destiny isn’t the only online game that uses systems like that, but I do think item level or a new progression system after lvl 100 would be a good change of pace here.

I liked this game, quite a bit. But it’s not like FF4-10 that I remember really fondly. I’ve forgotten most of it. I remember it being too easy and became a bit of slog to keep going in the end stages and just kinda wanting it to end and the DLC didn’t come out until long after I was finished with it. But I remember it having a really hot start and some great cinematic bosses. One of the hottest starts in gaming but I felt like it falls off a quarter of the way through personally.

Well based on Viper i can already say PROBABLY 1-2-3 combo is soon gonna be 1 button, seems with MOST of dawntrail that is where abilities went they combo into another ability. I could 100% see 8.0 rework changing your standard and AoE rotation to 1 button that changes, could look to combine other abilities as well and make them work together that seems the most logical because that lessens button bloat on controller then adds room to add more buttons as well.

I will NEVER play a mobile FFXIV, I've seen what mobile games have done to lineage 2, BDO and BNS.. NO! The whole point of FFXIV is that we pay monthly so we don't have this P2W bull shit model most MMO's do. every mobile game is just a giant cash crab and normally they just auto everything for you. I love FFVII but I dead set refuse to play ever crisis cause it's a fucking p2w micro transaction monster.

What could be a possibility instead of raising to level 110, abilities could get some kind of skilltree, which changes the playstyle of certain classes e.g. More melee based red mage, complete caster reaper etc. On the other hand then only what is Stronger will get build. Thoughts? 😊

Itsnlinda dated and a actual next gen mmo with not dated graphics, action combat and the quality of 14, it would be creazy good, The mobile version might be it. And while i know, there are sht mobile games for sure. There are games like wuthering waves, and more upcoming games that dont feel like mobile games. Mobiles are getting powerful full so it makes sense, people actually want to make actual good games

I'd call this game one of the best examples of an "uncut masterpiece." The game is a masterpiece, and nothing will change that. But it could have hit better if it was willing to risk being a little bit less. Cut a few of the more unnecessary side and main quests to keep the pacing tighter, cut some of the unnecessary gameplay systems that aren't fleshed out, etc.
@MoreLimitless_
@MoreLimitless_ 2 күн бұрын
I agree. Even if they wanted to keep it the same length, some of the main quests could have been a bit better in design than "go here and fetch me 3 out this item and come back to talk to me." But other than the flawed quest design and early game side quests, the game is still very good overall. The most complete and quality single player FF game we've gotten in the past 20 years.

I think one of the things that ff16 did extremely well was show a great love story that had a lot of maturity and was handled with the delicate care the characters needed. To date, it’s definetely in my top 3 love stories of all the games and showed much more emotional depth than almost every other one in the series. I do wish they fleshed Jill out more but speaking just purely about the love story, it’s top tier.

My main problem with Final Fantasy XVI is that you can't visit any of the big cities (the ones built around the Mother Crystals). Everytime you get close to one of these cities, you're like "are they doing it? can we finally visit an urban area?" but you can only get glimpses of it during cutscenes. For example, The Holy Empire of Sanbreque. It looks so amazing, but you can only actually run around a field outside of the city, and the only time when you can walk around in it is to fight.
@MoreLimitless_
@MoreLimitless_ 2 күн бұрын
While it would have been cool, I suspect that they didn't do so because explorable cities like those are extremely expensive. And considering FFXVI already cost a lot to produce anyway, especially with the Eikon battles, explorable cities were most likely just not viable to do.

A bunch of initial information here that is misrepresented. Primarily, while the Hydaelyn Zodiark arc has concluded after 10 years of development, DawnTrail does not represent the beginning of such a continued development. Yoshi-P has stated numerous times that a 10 year arc like what came before is NOT in their cards. They have admitted a multi-expansion story arc is possible (3-5 years, 2-3 expansions) depending on what the community’s response is to various story experiments. Yoshi-P has stated they have a 10-15 year plan for the game, but this is not purely about story/narrative. It’s a conflation to make the argument that because Yoshida has said they have a plan to extend the life of FFXIV for another 10 years means we will get another 10 year connected story arc akin to Zodiark/Hydaelyn.
@ReveredDead
@ReveredDead 3 күн бұрын
My hope over all else is that they can create a story arc that will be the next 10 year story. Cause the bar to beat Shadowbringers and Endwalker as a story is so high. They'll need to beat their own record. It is really hard to replicate the magic and the depth that comes with a story that was 10 years in the making. Their job is incredibly hard now as story writers. I hope Yoshi P continues to bring the magic as he always does.

I play FF games for the stories and world building. Story was pretty entertaining. Combat was repetitive though and the world didn't feel alive and a bit bland. Visuals were stunning and the boss battles super epic and entertaining. All in all a good game, but I'll probably never play it again. Compared to 6,7,8 and 9 I replay every couple of years.

I treat dawntrail like ARR. it’s a new beginning and new story. Idk why ppl are expecting this to be really good. We are starting over from 0. There is no new threat or bad guy right now. People are delusional. The story isn’t even bad. People just expect something huge to happen.
@MoreLimitless_
@MoreLimitless_ 3 күн бұрын
@@josezeroninja It’s not at the heights of the last two expansions, of course, and as to be expected. Still though, as you said it’s not even a bad expansion, not in msq and especially not in content. I feel like people are expecting every expansion going forward to be 10/10 across the board, when that’s simply not the reality of things. A saga needs to have a well thought out foundation and build up if it’s to succeed. But anyway, I think Dawntrail is very solid. It's probably my third favorite expansion in the game currently.

Gameplay to me despite being flashy was repetitive and became very boring. Mashup button to trigger skill effects, rinde and repeat. If Kingdom hearts is considered your best action game I can see why the appeal. But this has no complexity combos are trigger based not pattern based. But each to their own, the setting also wasn't very attractive, it lacked the magic of what makes a final fantasy game. Something the series has long lost.

It seems we both view what makes a good FF game and that's completely fine. As I said in the video FF a good FF means more to me than just gameplay alone. It's the fact that it can mesh all these different art forms together that makes each entry so compelling for me. TB combat, action combat, it really makes no difference to me so long as it adheres to the themes of FF. And in my eyes FF16 holds those themes very close to it while providing something new as well. That to me is FF. But to each their own.

Square is pulling a 'Blizzard' by going mobile with Tencent. Great, FFXIV is about to turn into trash. Since that CEO is gone, I'm hoping the FFXIV team can have autonomy, since Yoshi has more than proved his capabilities. As for Yawntrail: I'm liked the battles and raids, and I get the story. The idea sound cool, but the execution was SO bloated and full of filler scenarios that made me doze off. It didn't need to copy the whole ARR experience. I'm going to need the patches to have WAY more of a pulse if they intend to keep me on for another 10 years of this story. The first chapter was ROUGH. Still, I loved the last fight, endgame, raids, and dungeons though.

While mobile could be interesting, I'm not terribly interested for two reasons. One is that I'm fairly sedentary, so I don't have much cause to play games on my phone a lot of the time. The other is the complexity issue, but I could see a path forward on that by allowing players to make their skills and abilities into single-buttons like in PvP stuff. So, for example, a Tank's 123 can just made into one button if that's what the player wants. Secondly, I can think of a few paths to increasing the power of classes without raising the level cap again. The main one I have would be called Mastery. It would be purely passive buffs to your stuff and could be either Role Mastery, so each of the five Roles gets boosts unique to them (easy option, and I think the most likely off all three I list here) or Job Mastery, which would require a lot of variants of things based on each Job. I could also see Specializations. So, for example, spitballing, a Dragoon could specialize in Line, Jump, or Precise, which would make it so that using attacks that fit that descriptor are empowered or attacks that don't might become ones that do.
