@@Y-two-K Having started with VIII, it has a very special place in my heart, but it is the weakest one of the PS1 era, and even compares poorly against previous entries such as IV and VI. It had memorable places and bosses, but the story is... not great, between Ultimecia's goal having no tangible purpose other than "She evil", the Guardian Forces supposedly being a big deal for SeeDs and having dire impact on people using them while never ever being relevant in the story save for that ONE part to throw in some "Destiny" shenanigans, and the main cast being lackluster... Other than Squall and Rinoa's relationship, and more speficially Squall learning to open himself to others, the only other member of the crew to have any significant arc is Zell, who gets to redeem himself for one major screw up and to lead the rest of the gang during Lunatic Pandora's return to Esthar.

I personally hope that the translation is a lot more faithful and that story elements that were either left out or abandoned are implemented to help flesh out the characters even more than they already are (at least in regards to certain characters).

@@marioharrer9999 Yes? You can even choose to have the ATBs either fully stop while picking your actions or to keep going. Active or Wait, as it's worded in the games' options. And even with the ATBs keep going, those games ARE Turn Based as opposed to Action based, such as FF7 Remake/Rebirth or FF16 are. Sure, it's not at the same degree as FF10 or the first three games, but that remains Turn Based.

Ff9 is definitely one of my favorites. I've been waiting years to play this game again. I remember playing ff9 on Playstation when it first came out a 4 disk game and I got stuck on disk 3 because disk 4 wouldn't load I was so mad lol. Things that THEY MIGHT probably add, knowing SE 1. Stagger mechanics (All SE’s new RPGs has this mechanic, even Octopath Traveller has something similar) 2. Character Swapping (hopefully) 3. Expanded Trigger commands like what FFX does. Even 7R has situations when you need to use your environment to gain advantages 4. Revamped summoning system. Hope they don’t make it like FF7R, very bad implementation. 5. Expanded Weapon and Equipment system. Also the Ability system (AP) 6. Seamless encounters 7. Team attacks / Partner system. They’ll probably expand on it like what Vivi and Steiner had. Steiner can only access certain skills when Vivi is on the party. We might have some simplified Synergy system. Excited to see something similar. 8. Crafting system 9. Trance system revamp. The most annoying thing is when Trance happens during a normal encounter and it gets wasted. Maybe resetting every encounter and has faster build up. 10. NG+ 11. New sidequests probably

The opening clip with Zidane is perfect to me. I kind of doubt the remake will look that good, but I can dream. ATB combat (my preference for FF), updated music (so it's not so midi sounding), and at least partial voice acting would be perfect. It would be cool to have some new quests and stuff, but a 1:1 remake is great.

The musicccc! I can't wait for this to be revealed but man I wish they did 8, that one needs a remake more than the others and 9 on PC still looks beautiful to this day! Though the fan Remake of 9 also looks incredible, I hope it looks like that in the Remake (it would be great if they actually hired that team!) I can only dream but I want them all with updated graphics remade. Even if they all keep their original combat. I still play the older games and I completely 1-6 pixel remasters when they came out and absolutely loved it still in 2024. Turn based is still totally fine

The skip on 8 for now probably comes from the fact that they want Kitase to oversee that project as well as maybe one day doing a remake for 6. I'm sure we'll see one of those remade after 9, especially if they want to follow what Capcom has been doing.

I think 9 is more popular than 8? mind you so makes sense why they do this one first. It's been too long now but isn't 9 smaller too. Either way I hope any future remakes are 1 full game. Maybe it cost too much resource to come up from scratch. outsourcing and taking it back was the plan all along. Not only gives you a starting point but now you can just move things around and do what in house would like without the start up.

Nah, I'm all in for turn based. I'd love for it to be something like DQ11 for example. Open 3d world, with battle maps. I'd also love it if when you play Tetra Master you actually toss down a board on the ground to play. Also - and I know this is a long shot - what if the TM cards had some markings on them that gave a little bit about the personality of the person you got it from? Like you win one from a guy who's eating chocolate and it has a chocolate fingerprint on it forever. Or a little girl who likes to draw on her card, and you carry that little drawing around in your deck.

I think FF7 rebirth is a perfect mixture of real time action and strategy where you can pause it. But I wouldn't mind turn based, I'd still like to play this remake (I have it but only got to the part where you save the princess from a plant boss, as my PS1's laser went borked)

What they really really need to bring back imo is fixed camera angles and backgrounds. The originals had such awesome screenplay. Fixed angles and backdrops help/force us to examine. I will be over the moon when we get this remake! It's honestly my favorite of the Sakaguchi Final Fantasy games. It's the most profound, beautiful, and purely "Sakaguchi" Final Fantasy game we got in the series, even to this day. I think FFIX is highly, highly overlooked. No worries! From recent news it’ll be more in line with the original. This means turn-based combat, and with that I assume the camera will be similar to the original with a bit more freedom.

Final Fantasy 9 is one of the most special games holding a deep place in my heart, it's so special... hearing the music in this video brings back so many fond memories :"( ♥ I can DEFINITELY see Square-Enix holding off until the next Nintendo console releases to make it one of the big new AAA's to come to the console to help with sales and new customers. FF9 has that slight cartoony aesthetic style to it that would work GREAT for the kind of games that come to Nintendo, so I can see them wanting to add that to their planned console releases. Especially with recent news of the company deciding to branch out their games to multi-platform now it makes perfect sense they would want to do this! I keep hearing the next Nintendo console is going to be quite competent hardware wise, so I don't think the console would limit the vision for the game. Personally I love both the classic nostalgic turn-based and modern action-oriented combat, so either or is good for me, I just wouldn't mind seeing it come out in 2 parts(3 is overkill, FF7 Remake Trilogy project is the only one that this makes sense for given the original 3 discs and the fact that the lore etc. is so extensive they can TOTALLY get away with 3 parts but not other remakes, those should be 1-2 parts max) so they can extend the lore a bit and maybe add things they couldn't to the original due to hardware and memory/storage limitations for sure!

Then it's odd that two big listings have leaked the game on top of industry insiders also saying the game is deep in development. We also have pre-order listings for the game already which also point to the game being far into its dev cycle. If you're speaking about Sakaguchi then that wouldn't make sense seeing as he has little to no involvement in most modern Final Fantasy titles.

First time on your channel. Turn-based era fan right here and I would definitely love FF9 to be remade with the same battle system with some tweaks of course. Now, I like that FF7 remake was action and all because I feel that the story can be better told in that manner. FF7 was my first FF game and it holds a very special place in my heart. FF8 not so much. And when FF9 came out, it rekindled my love for the FF games. Imo, FF9's world is better told with the battle system separate from the storytelling. I mean, it does sound interesting to run around fighting Kuja. But it won't make any difference once he goes into Trance and mops the floor with Ultima whether it's turn-based combat or an action game. And heck... I've been yearning for some good ol' turn-based combat for a long time and been satisfying my hunger with FFWOTV and Octopath Traveller. *FF Record Keeper in your vid made me tear up a bit

FF9 is a wonderful game and I can't wait for the remake!! I really hope they keep it turn based. Since it was originally designed to be a love letter to the older FF titles, if they change it from turn based, it will completely destroy what the game was actually intended for. I am not a big fan of the action based changes, but I understand why they make that change. I just hope they keep this game true to it's intent. Long live turn based jrpgs. Yes, Ive seen that. Of course, this video is older than the live letter but most information provided is from industry insiders. The FF9 Remake is still very real, however, it just supposedly wont be CS3 working on the project from what Yoshi-P has stated.

They released nine for Playstation 1 after Playstation 2 had came out it was the last ps1 Game I ever played. I think that probably really affected the sales because the game itself was the best game since ff6. I almost stopped playing altogether after 8 I tried playing it again recently and even with fast forward and invincibility so I could fly through it I couldn't find much I liked about it and didn't finish. If they would release 9 with those features id go through it multiple times for the story. Final fantasy 10 is the same to me I wanna finish the story but the combat is so slow I dont feel like grinding levels to finish it.

2:18 bc they know they are incompetent, and also the pressure of remaking a beloved classic is very high. Outsourcing allows them to scapegoat another company. But in these cases I guess they saw the product of the outsourcing and said "we're not _that_ incompetent"

im all for this, my only concern is that they will make it an action RPG and not a turn based rpg. I just wanted a technical remaster more than i want a remake persay. I dont want a ff7 remake version of ff9, i want ff9 but prettier lol Besides QoL, i think they should make Necron a optional side boss and allow Kuja to be the final boss like he already felt like. im so excited, i have to temper my expectations lol

I do wish there was a way they could give Kuja like another bigger transformation after his Trance form. Just dunno how that would work...

@@willw1991 I don't even think they need that, they could just scale him up. I think at least for the story, Kuja is the perfect final boss and his Trance form is just amazing for theme, story, and looks awesome! I just thought Necron felt out of place. Would be a super cool side boss like Hades or Ozma though.

@@kyledabearsfan I was just thinking cuz most final boss is the result of multiple transformations right? like Exdeath, Kefka, Sephiroth, Ultimecia, Vayne and others. I just thought it would be neat if Kuja had his own ultimate transformation, something even above Trance.

I hope it's not a console exclusive. It's my favorite FF because it was the love letter of the original games. It felt the most Final Fantasy out of all the Final Fantasys.

I have no problem with turn-based, it's sounding more like a REMASTER than a REMAKE atm. Considering I alreayd have FF9 on my PS4/5, I'll need a little more added before I buy it a fourth time.

I'm just suffering through my first ever playthrough of FF X (suffering, because I loved the story and the game but now I'm like 20h into the postgame and it's extremely repetitive, plus the minigames suck hard)... that said... it reminded me of how awesome turn-based FFs where... Let's hope these news are real (even though I'd still prefer FFVIII).

That's actually bad news. The rumours were that it was just a complete graphical overhaul but with the core gameplay intact. This suggests they may want to give IX similar treatment which it neither wants nor needs. IX was made as a love letter to the classic titles, mixing classic and modern in a perfect way. It NEEDS to retain it's combat system and core gameplay. It needs to retain its art style without going too hyper-realistic, it NEEDS the overworld in all its original glory and to not be converted into an open world game. Anything other than a complete apples to apples remake will ruin this game. It needs command based combat (be it ATB or turn-based) and it needs its original overworld.

For me, FF9 was the last good FF game until Rebirth came out which was excellent in my humble opinion. A similar reworking of 9 to Rebirth would be an exciting prospect, indeed. And don’t forget the excellent FF8.
