The red ribbons are our blood stripes given to us when promoted to NCO. Our higher ups, mostly our 1stSgt, didn't like hazing or any sort of physically hurtful celebrations whether traditional or not. So punching chevrons into the collar or "blood striping" anyone by kneeing and kicking their legs was a no go. But it definitely still happened after the fact lmao. Happened to me in Korea.

Lmao Brother I'm a Sgt. The thing about having freedoms is the ability to have the feelings you have. But that gives everyone to also participate and if that includes people wearing surplus uniforms or whatever, so be it. Plus half the fun of shooting guns is dress up. Sorry you have a negative view of it. Also that isn't me shooting otherwise I'd have a better Gwot built rifle lmao. Anyway, commanders discretion on sleeves especially in the field. Quarter sleeve is nice since it allows for more airflow and doesn't get in the way of drawing. But obviously up to the operator.

@@ArthurNguyen that’s fair, I just feel some kinda way when I see actual non-vets on KZbin messing around in a uniform that we spend most of our time just chilling and doing boring ass work in. I made the assumption when I saw the sleeves. At our unit and all other units I’ve trained at we do sleeves down for any field excercise.

@@BuggaBoy69 Flip side though, I find it kind of cool that people, even from airsoft, have a fascination to recreate uniforms and create clone correct builds surrounding it. Almost keeping it alive. However, you're not wrong. The uniforms represent a lot more than just a costume. So when I first dropped into arty, anytime we were in Yuma, or some hot ass place, believe it or not we dropped blouses. Straight up boots and utes with full kit on the gunline. Not too long after.. new commander, new rules. With new leadership, quarter sleeves weren't allowed but wasn't enforced in the field. Half the time we were under cammie netting so higher ups wouldn't notice anyway.

So the thing with Airmax's they're pretty porous and unfortunately with white shoes they will always eventually get discolored slightly. But the best way is preventative measures. I coat my shoes in a hydrophobic fabric spray. Then occasionally wipe and wash. As of lately I just use good solvents and soaps. Dish soap, clothing detergent, and/or baking soda. All made to lift up and remove oil and dirt which is what your shoes are always exposed to. High agitation (more bubbles) is key.

@@jinaygadiya1853 Ah. That's more so stain. Unfortunately the pigment literally takes the color of which it's stained since it's essentially like a blank canvas. You can always get it touched up. Basically painted.
