'Ya know what nobody seems to mention in ANY cab video...is the strength that it takes to pull the throttle back. Doyle is a rather large guy, yet he (and multi-others I've seen), have a considerable amount of difficulty pulling that grapevine back and I somewhat get-it, (since I've never had the opportunity). There "ain't" NO power assisted throttles on ANY machine, right? Me, and at age 70...? I'd have to put my left foot against the back head, (or something nearby), and strain like hell just to get it to creep along, (not to mention in running mode).
I can't help but noticing that C&O 2716 had three whistles at the time, how is that possible?

I love the thumping sound these give off as they run down the track, the sounds of the boots from conductors past pushing it down the tracks. Beautiful machines.

Ironic that they show a brand new Tier-4 EMD......that only lasted three years and is already sitting in a Kentucky dead line. Meanwhile, this 70 year old SD-9 is still chugging. They don't build them like they used to!

Very nice video but change the title to the Broadway limited cab ride that's train 41 not train 29 which is the Capitol limited!

These locomotives were built to tackle the grades solo or Doublehead on these kind of runs just like the articulated locomotives did with heavy freight. Nothing can stop the power of steam.

I use that whistle for my Bachmann HO scale J3a Hudson model, and it fits it wonderfully. It’s loud and booming, and it conveys the same sense of power and strength that the real J3a Hudsons were often associated with. The real J3a Hudsons wore whistles of the same type as the Nathan 6 chime on 765, and it’s clear to see why. They’re beautiful whistles that sound great on both freight and passenger locomotives.

I use that whistle on my J3a Hudson locomotive model, and it fits really nicely. It perfectly conveys that sense of strength, power, and prestige that the J3a Hudsons and S2 Berkshires carried in real life. I couldn’t think of any better a whistle for such beautiful and massive engines. It’s even prototypical to the J3as, mainly because the NYC’s Hudsons (along with most of their other large passenger locomotives) wore Nathan long-bell 6 chimes.

The one spot in the tone of the steam horn my dog howls, she howled today when it was going north.
@robkrasinski6217Ай бұрын
It's steam whistle. Horns are airhorns and are usually on diesels but some steam locomotives had them.
