3:09 - I disagree on this point, as when I was a kid back in the 2000s and 2010s me and other kids speculated about stuff and spread game rumors (mostly them but that's besides the point). My neices and nephews and all the kids their age still come up with all sorts of crazy stuff. It's so adorable.

This video made me think of the perfect solution to the inevitable problem of how to level scale between a hundred Pokemon gyms in a sensible way. Gyms have different sets of Pokemon, so you register your party to look at your highest level Pokemon, and your average levels between them, to determine which ranking tier the people in the gym use for your challenge.

Yeah, it's true. Kanto wasn't the name of the region until gen 2 and we'll never get a good Pokemon game with two regions again, even though Galar would've been perfect to include Kalos in the post game. And I never liked the gen 1 remakes because they were so lazily done. (They couldn't even be bothered to localize Blue version and just put it out there as LeafGreen; everyone outside of Japan is like WTF is "Green Version?") And they made the remakes way too easy to the point of being boring. No games can be worse than the trash that was BD/SP, but the gen 1 remakes are the second worst ones, in my opinion.

As a melienial I have a love affair with gen 1 and gen 2 but after that I felt the Pokemon got cheap. Like they were cranking them out as fast as possible and didn't have the same forethought and spirit that gen 1 had.

This was never a technological limitation. GSC’s inclusion of Kanto with a mid-game Elite Four was a balancing nightmare. Kanto gets steamrolled, and GameFreak didn’t come up with very many interesting things to do there. They closed off or demolished almost every town’s unique feature and couldn’t figure out a replacement. Even the construction site in Vermilion never amounted to anything. So when faced with the idea of letting you visit old regions, they probably look back at how empty GSC Kanto was and how quickly players would steamroll it and decided it’s not worth trying that again. They could have included Johto in FireRed/LeafGreen, but it would have only had as much content as Sevii did anyway, so they made Sevii instead. Look at Scarlet and Violet… Paldea borders Kalos, but you have no access to Kalos. Instead you can visit Unova, but only a small new island off the coast of Unova and there’s no way to get to the mainland. GameFreak doesn’t want to include nerfed, empty versions of old regions, and they never have time to figure out how to include old regions well. They’re designed to be started with level 5 pokemon, not level 60 pokemon.

To this day, I regret selling my N64 gane collection. Though I still have my extra copy of pokemon stadium left. (I bought 2 years back) I still herald this pokemon battle game as peak! It had the best animation, the pokemon appearing, attacking, and fainting. The Moves Special effects even had charm. The announcer got annoying after a while but in the beginning hearing him was a game changer! I would love to see a pokemon battle style only game like this again before I leave this world

Not including Johto/Kanto in Gen 3 was the dick move that got me out of this franchise forever. Seriously, it represents every tiny thing that Game Freak refuse to do in order to respect its fans. "You want the older regions? Give us more money". No. Never gave Game Freak a cent ever again.

I remember in gen 1 thinking that was all there ever would be. Just 151 Pokemon to entertain ourselves with forever. I figured Togepi wasn't even a Pokemon, just some random animal they found.

I would have at least liked a small inclusion of Kalos in either Sword/Shield or Violet/Scarlet given that Kalos is based on France, Galar is based on the UK< and Paldea is based on the Iberian Peninsula.

the ultimate pokemon game is a pipedream through official channels, the closest an official pokemon game can be to having everything now is pokemon go which has NO regions just all the pokemon as it updates. we'll just have to settle for region recreations in minecraft with pixelmon or cobblemon and trying to find a map pack that has all regions included, or pokemmo being the gen 3/4 and 1/2 remakes added to the gen 5 engine. Pokemmo does solve some of the problems though, with individual level caps and badge requirements for HMs per region enforced, so you don't go to a second region with a lvl 70 team. it being multiplayer is optional to engage with, but the revamped gym and elite 4 battles are not optional, there's no way to play through exact versions of the original games all together, you HAVE to play on a harder difficulty made by fans so that's another step away from what many people want. but hey, it's as close to an all regions game as we're gonna get.
@Sailor11Sedna22 сағат бұрын
A lot of us were hoping that the DLC for Scarlet and Violet would take us to Kalos because Spain borders on France about where the Paldea map cuts off. It shouldn’t be impossible to make another game with two regions, and let us see what happened to characters we met long ago.

I am legit worried about a Gen 5 remake. I used to want one real bad, but I really, really don't trust modern gamefreak to do it justice, especially since it's the only generation with an actual sequel, rather than just an expansion. I don't think it'll be done proper justice...

When I was a kid, I was so upset that saphire/ruby/emerald didn't let you go back to kanto/jhoto that I never played them. I got pokemon blue and played it at school a lot, I got pokemon silver, and then was greatly greatly disappointed by emerald/sapphire, I kinda stopped playing pokemon after that, except I gave ultra moon a try, and lets go pikachu.

I think that a Pokemon Game with all regions in it would be too much for most players. I mean after the first or second region your pokemon already reached lv100. What are you supposed to do after that? Also I cannot see Kanto again:D I played this region over and over agian - playing something else makes more sense. In conclusion, all regions would be too much but I would like to see 2 regions interacting together. For example, at the end of the sun and moon games, Lilies mother had to go to Kanto in order to get healed. It would make sense if you accompany Lilie on that mission.

I think, for the sake of the developers, it's better for them to focus solely on the region they're currently working on than to try to include stuff. As much as people like to call TotK DLC because of reuse of the map, developers still had to go back and redo assets and change up the terrain ontop of all the new physics interactions and revamping of how items work they did. To make a whole new region and then have to go back to an old region and change things up in particular ways to make it seem like time has passed is a BIG ask, honestly. And with how much ScarVio looked like crap and ran just as well, I don't want more burden on the devs then there currently is cause, like, it kinda feels like Pokemon is about to fly off the wheels at any moment currently. Now with all that said, it still would be cool to go back and see how things have changed in older regions. That was the thing I loved in Gold/Silver and one of the big aspects I appreciated in TotK, seeing people living their lives and adapting to the changing times. Love to be in a world that feels like it's actually being live in and has the capacity to change.

being able to go back to kanto in crystal and hgss was is and probably will forever be my all-time favorite part of any pokemon game. there have been a lot of cool things in these games but none come close to finally going back to the og map, fighting all the gym leaders and eventually fighting red inside or, even better, on the tip of mt silver. the only event/battle that even got close for me was fighting volo and then him busting out giratina, and giratina having a phase 2.

I'm 99% sure Mew was called the Foetus Pokémon in either english or french version of pkmn blue/red/yellow or pokémon stadium ; thus he is the ancestor of all pokémon because every pokémon has been a foetus. As the mechanism of eggs should have been in red and blue already, maybe pokémon was way more into genetics since the beginning but it tends to disappear due to lack of memory. But I remember how pokemon, as a license, came at the same time of the first research about clones, the goat called Dolly, and all the contreverse that followed about what is a living being and ethical questions. The pokémon movie did came with a few of these ideas but it could have been way more deeper. All this laboratory on the island (don't have the english name) and all this thing with mewtwo. Yet they let us just speculate.

the real issue is due to a thing called level balance. Remember when Gen 2/4 gave us Kanto again, and it resulted in people complaining about how their level 40s/early 50s were now getting hit by a youngerster with a lvl 60 pokemon
@usrevengeКүн бұрын
They could solve the "you level to much" by having you move regions before finishing the first Like imagine if you got to nugget bridge in Kanto but then had to Johto and while there worked on those badges. It would be difficult to do every region since Pokemon did the thing where they never stopped adding more. But you could easily do 3 or 4 regions with this method. Especially if you slowed xp gain a bit to a certain point.

Nintendo will keep following the pokemon formula as long as players keep giving them money that justifies the formula. If players wanted change, they would apply pressure with their wallet, but they don't. The fans get the games they deserve.

Even if they used GBA or DS level graphics to have the ability to make a current gen multiregion game, there would be no chance of it happening because, even if the fans want it, even if the devs want it, it's up to the publishers and the directors to make the choices of whether or not their pride in pushing the limits of the fanbase and in the capabilities of the hardware is more important than their fanbase and their profit margin.

The problem with a full world is not technical limitations or game design flaws, but the fact that not even Nintendo would know where to place every region in a map. Quoting a post from your comments, the Cave of Being in black/white 2 should connect (in theory at least) with Sinnoh. Now I challenge anyone to grab the map of Sinnoh and try to connect it with Unova somehow, near the area of the cave of Being. Either Sinnoh is a large island somewhere south of Unova, and the cave of Being is really huge, or it simply doesn't make any sense at all and they just wanted to reference DPPl in some way. And if you search for fan-made world maps, you'll notice nobody agrees on a common layout, aside of Kanto and Johto being where they are in the original games (because they do appear officially together). And it becomes even harder if we take into consideration the anime exclusive regions.

The cave's original name in the Cave of Spirit. Perfect excuse to make it a metaphysical connection that simply warps the player to its counterpart.

I love the concept of revisting old regions, I loved it in heart, gold, and soul silver, which were my favorite games, and I also loved it in the rom hack Pokémon glazed. However, they compatibility that there was in gen 3 where you could play Hoenn in Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, but you could also play Kanto in fire, red and leaf green, and they were almost perfectly compatible. Did really speak to me. I think it would be amazing if there were even different games that could communicate with each other so that you could explore the whole world, however the lifespan of the consoles themselves as well as the time required to develop a new game makes this very difficult to achieve...
