"When you read Exodus, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy, the punishment is not different if you are the king, or if you are a slave." Lie, lie, lie... Exodus 21: 24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. 26 And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye's sake. 27 And if he smite out his manservant's tooth, or his maidservant's tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth's sake. And again: 28 If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit. 29 But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time past, and it hath been testified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death. 30 If there be laid on him a sum of money, then he shall give for the ransom of his life whatsoever is laid upon him. 31 Whether he have gored a son, or have gored a daughter, according to this judgment shall it be done unto him. 32 If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.

Nobody claimed that the Code Of Hammurabi was basically the same as the Ten Commandments. Stop lying, please. What is true is the the laws of slavery under the Mosaic code paralleled those of the nations around them and the nations preceding them, including the Code Of Hammurabi.

The reason it took some time to abolish slavery is because of Christianity. Christians had to adopt humanist principles in order to oppose slavery, as their own scriptures condoned it.

What is actually amusing, and depressing, is that a society that traced its origins back to runaway slaves from Egypt immediately sanctioned the chattel enslavement of non-Hebrew.
@cygnusustus

"It is an extraordinary fact that the one society in the Ancient Near East that has a law protecting runway slaves was the society that traced its origins back to runaway slaves from Egypt." Lying once again. Israel was not the "one" society that protected run away slaves. In fact, it did not protect runaway slaves. It only prohibited returning runaway slaves from enemy nations, and it was not the only ANE culture to do so. Other nations had similar laws regarding the return of slaves to vassal nations. There were NO laws stating that slaves running away from Hebrew masters were to be granted sanctuary, and to even suggest that a slave could walk next door and demand freedom. Truly naïve'. Truly desperate.

"You have these aspects of the Bible that talk about slavery, in the same way you seem that it talked about polygamy and divorce. But Biblical instructions that allows for those things in certain context isn't necessarily Biblical approval." Nope. It seems there is no quicker way to get Christians to lie than to ask them about slavery in the Bible. The Old Testament does not merely "talk" about slavery. The Old Testament explicitly CONDONES, PROMOTES, and COMMANDS it. Leviticus 25. "44 Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids. 45 Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession. 46 And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour." Deuteronomy 20: 10-14. "When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it. And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee. And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it: And when the Lord thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword: But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the Lord thy God hath given thee."

Great conversation on communion. It seems that there is a lot of liberty in the NT on how we do it. I personally wish that as the church we had more of a connection to the Jewish feasts/ holidays as they are full of Christ and put redemptive history on display. I know some Christians do a Passover sedar but many have a problem with that.

The name of God is YHWH which is found in exodus 3:10-15 the funny thing is Pentecostalist will tell you that just means “I Am” which is only a title and not the true name of God and they will tell you the true name of God is “Jesus” because Jesus says he comes in the name of his Father…lol I find that argument funny and here’s why, if God’s true name is “Jesus” the transliteration where the word Jesus came from is Yeshua which in the Hebrew means “YHWH” is Salvation if that’s the case the name Jesus is Pointing to someone else who’s name is YHWH which these Pentecostalist says is just a title and his true name is Jesus, then if the name Jesus is literally pointing to someone else who is salvation the my question is, Who Is YHWH?

Oneness Pentecostal is easily debunked but being in Jamaica myself I can tell you Jamaica is mainly Pentecostal churches and they use Acts 2:38 to answer every question you ask them which is hilarious.

These verses provide a solid biblical basis for understanding God as a singular, unified being, which might offer a fresh perspective on why Oneness theology is rooted in Scripture. Deuteronomy 6:4: "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one." This verse is a foundational statement in the Hebrew Scriptures affirming God's singular nature. It emphasizes that there is only one God, underscoring that God is not divided into multiple persons but is a singular, unified entity. Isaiah 44:6: "This is what the LORD says- Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the First and I am the Last; apart from me there is no God." This passage highlights the exclusive nature of God’s divinity and His unique position as the only true God. It reinforces the concept that there are no other gods besides Him. Isaiah 45:5 states, "I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me, there is no God." This verse clearly declares that God alone is God, and there is no other. It supports the Oneness view by affirming the absolute singularity of God’s nature. John 17:3: "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." Here, Jesus refers to the Father as "the only true God," which suggests a singular divine identity. From an Oneness perspective, this can be interpreted as Jesus identifying Himself with the Father in terms of divine essence and purpose. 1 Timothy 2:5: "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus." This verse reaffirms God's oneness while recognizing Jesus as the mediator. Oneness theology interprets this as Jesus being the singular manifestation of the one God rather than a separate person. James 2:19: "You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that-and shudder." This verse confirms the belief in one God as a fundamental truth, aligning with the Oneness understanding of God's singularity. These scriptures collectively point to a unified understanding of God. Oneness theology interprets these passages as evidence that God is not divided into separate persons but is one entity who has revealed Himself in different ways throughout history.

Respectfully, I'll add just a couple points for consideration. My issue isn't the "feats of strength" or sword swallowing. My issue is him ripping off his shirt and showing his physique in the manner he did. He could easily wear a different outfit that isn't revealing. I think most men's first reaction is this not being a big deal because it's a men's conference with a male performer. 1) This doesn't address any women on staff working the event 2) I personally have been through large churches, like this one, where men in life groups/closed groups are dealing with/recovering from same sex attraction. They're also dealing with body image issues and a laundry list of other things. Even to my surprise, I ran into more men dealing with same sex attraction than I expected. So no, I don't agree with a man tearing off his clothes to do this performance in a church led conference. I'm also not sure performing acts on a pole is the best idea. The "not seeing that coming" response seems a little naive. I could have easily seen performing on a pole being inappropriate at a church event. Find other ways to perform feats of strength with different apparatuses.

As someone who actually grew up in the church he's discussing, I had friends that were trinity, full gospel, 7th day adventist and I have visited pentecostal assemblies and others etc. In my experiences I have felt the Holy Spirit greater in churches that adhered to holiness and followed the teaching of the apostles, acts 2:38 etc. Many pentecostal / full gospel services I've attended, I've never would have known they were even christian if I would have met them outside of church. The biggest issue I see is the idea of "organization". For example you have people sitting at a table in Missouri deciding is the church ok with television or not, and that works it's way down to the members. Are all the decisions all the time going to be correct? Probably not.

If God knows what God will do tomorrow, then that knowing, that thought of himself knowing what he will do, its almost as if God and God are separate. As in, There is a God that knows what another God will do. This other "Yahweh" figure in heaven shown in the old testament, this act of God knowing himself, is Christ. In this sense, Christ is the firstborn of creation, because Jesus is the first "thought" of God.
