Your transitions between 1st and 2nd with the quickshifter may struggle unless you are higher up in the rev range.

I'm dating myself but I did ride my 1987 Kawasaki EX250 from Las Vegas to SW Oklahoma in 1988 there and back. Actually it wasn't all that bad. I did freeze tho in Arizona on I40. 1010 miles one way according to Google Maps.

86,000km on my 06 now, HESD works great. Maintenance is very minimal. All the new electronics new bikes have can be added to the 06 and 07 (e.g wheelie control, traction control, quick shift up\down, push button gear change and so on).

For anyone that is planing to buy a 1299 or an 1199 you should not be in danger of overheating in the summer as long as you are riding it like you should ride a panigale😂. The most common issue that I’ve seen on my 1299s and other peoples 1199’s. The squirter unit and the water pump have a pretty high fail rate since it is literally in between both of your cylinders. And btw the squirter unit is the actual name of the part and it is made with some kinda OK plastic but when it over heats it usually just fails and spits coolant until you replace it🙃. Got to love the Ducati heat factor lmao.

My R6 can literally fill the tank to the very top of it, but my new 2020 s1k has a little tube that goes down into the tank. So idk if I’m supposed to fill it up all the way to the top, or like when to stop. It has holes that go around the tube part, so I assume we don’t want to fill it higher than that, but idk. It’s way more confusing than it should be.
@TheDucatiPilot
@TheDucatiPilot 4 ай бұрын
That’s interesting. On my current bike (Ducati Panigale V4) I don’t fill it to the top. I usually wait until the pump clicks, and I stop. One time I filled it to the top, and a tiny bit of gas was seeping through around the outer ring. Ride safe my friend!

@@TheDucatiPilot I shined a light into it when I got home today, and it’s like a 3 inch shallow mouthed funnel that leads to the top of the fuel tank. Like 2-3 inches down there are holes in it right before it reaches the “top” of the fuel tank so it’s pretty hard to see when you’re out irl filling it up without a flash light. I’ve always been too nervous to rely on the stopper with my bikes, and the newer s1k’s apparently have a small tank so I wanna get as much as it’s able to carry into her lol. I wanted a Ducati v4s or v4r but someone told me they require like annual valve adjustments and I didn’t wanna have to deal with that. I must say I like the gas tank design of the Japanese bikes I’ve had, but I do love this s1k already.

Changing modes is hard to do? You literally press a button to pull up the modes then press same button 1 or 2 times depending on mode u want to switch to. How can u own a motorcycle for 8 months and not know how to operate the controls?

I have a 2019 with (race exhaust) and 2024 V4R. The 2019 gets HOT as hell. The first time i noticed i had took down to make sure it wasnt on fire. So only short rides for me. And I have the heat shield. I just got the 1299R FE. Im waiting on delivery. Did the heat shield make Any difference. Did you have the complete race exhaust? Do you think that made it hotter. Btw I have the arrow bar end mirrors and love them.
@TheDucatiPilot
@TheDucatiPilot 6 ай бұрын
Hey, just saw this comment after responding to your other one! You have 2 wonderful bikes my friend! The heat shielding on the 1299 made a little bit of a difference, but not much. I do live in Florida though, so in the summer it doesn’t matter how much you try to cool off, you burn. On the 1299, I had the Akra slip on, but not the full headers. My V4 has the full Akra, and responds “better” to the heat. I don’t have the arrow bar ends mirrors on my V4 (like I did on the 1299), but I am considering purchasing them again. By the way, thanks for watching and commenting!

Ok. V4 Speciale or the 1299R Final edition? Both with equal low miles <100 miles. I think that's a good question, considering you had a 1299.
@TheDucatiPilot
@TheDucatiPilot 6 ай бұрын
This is a very good question, and I faced a similar dilemma. The main reason I chose the Speciale over the 1299 was the HEAT! It was unbearable to ride here in Florida. I would literally get burned on my right inner thigh from the 1299. This is even after I installed the heat shielding under the seat and side frames of the bike. I test rode the V4, and it was a night and day difference. Don’t get me wrong, the V4 still gets hot, but nothing close to the 1299. You can’t go wrong with either one, but just be warned about the 1299’s heat issues. GL!
