So I was planning on buying a ps1 slim... But they all got bought out at my local store.... It's not possible to make a ps1 into a ps1 slim, I wonder ×_×

You have used 6% hydrogen peroxide.. can you use 40% hydrogen peroxide with the same developer you have used and achieve the same result? Also how long did you submerge for? Thanks
@VVGRestoration8 күн бұрын
You can use 40%. I used 6% because it is all that is available where I live. I believe that this PS1 was submerged for 2 to 3 days - if you're using a 40% solution you can probably get the same result in 6 to 8 hours.
@michaelwillis6988 күн бұрын
That's awesome thanks and what ratios did you use, it looks like you add, peroxide, developer and water? What quantities of each should I use? I'll be using 40% peroxide as I got a whacking great 5 ltr bottle of the stuff lol

É sem marca. Custou uns €15 no AliExpress, mas não é muito bom, o qualidade do imagem pode ser melhor.

You can print buttons and logos in a transparent plastic sheet and apply some heat to make it glued to the body!!!

When doing this, could you have been able to put a C type for it's charging and sync?

Yes, you can buy a PCB with Type-C port on Amazon or Aliexpress

Turned out great but i would have used less bold symbols on the power on and open buttons. And I think original teal and powder blue colors for them would have looked stylish w the white console. Or maybe use no symbols at all. I just think the boldness of them makes them look out of place amongst the other graphical work. Great restoration otherwise though. 👍

Excellent video. What solution do you use to remove the stickers that were stuck to the lid and what solution do you use to clean the console housing? Are you using a normal toothbrush to clean? For the metal part, which solution should I use? To clean the circuit board, did you use a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol? For painting, any paint in particular? Was it necessary to apply primer first?
@VVGRestoration20 күн бұрын

One tip for people planning their own vintage console restorations or reinserting screws into plastic pieces: turn the screw counter-clockwise until you hear/feel a click. That means the threads have returned to their original position and now you can screw it in properly without damaging the threads in the case. It's plastic, so you can cut new threads through the old ones if you don't do this, leading to the screws eventually not having a tight fit. Just a little something I picked up.

Could of sanded and modded it, ultra sonic cleaner, and a brush instead of q tips
@VVGRestoration21 күн бұрын
I sanded it before primer, after primer, and between each coat of paint.

using a microfiber towel instead of the Q-tips makes so much more sense

Will the paint on the plastic chip or wear?
@VVGRestorationАй бұрын
Eventually, just like any paint. But it should last many years, unless you attack it with a pickaxe or something. The surface is sanded, then a layer of primer is applied, it's sanded again, then followed by three layers of paint, with a light sanding and cleaning between each one.

Can someone please tell me what the two holes are at the back on the sides?
@VVGRestorationАй бұрын
You used to be able to buy an LCD screen that could be attached to the back os the PS2 slim and these holes were the mounting points for the screen.

I was 17 years old when I got my Play Station 1 back then. I was happy like never before. I'm 45 now and still cringe when I hear the welcome screen. I wish I could go back to 1996 to experience that feeling again. Back then, there was a huge generational leap in graphics compared to the arcades we played until then, as if you could now get a console with 8640p resolution for 500 euros It was an experience 4 times better graphically than anything we had seen up to that point at least for me.

🤔 Nowadays, would simply upgrade to a (Frost?) White MemCardPro MC for PS1, cleaning any 2-4 of the already available white DS1s for sale on eBay and, if 3-4 multiplayer, applying the same case treatment to a classic multi-tap since the already white multi-tap for the subsequent slim PSOne was not compatible on previous PS1 form factor consoles, IIRC. Another option for white controller could be using a white PS3, PS4 or (8bitdo?) 3rd-party wireless controllers with a wireless controller receiver dongle plugged in to the port (may likely have to paint the receiver dongle white if none are made in that color) if not modding and installing the one option I recall that kept original controller ports' functionality while adding the aforementioned wireless controller board inside the case after a little notching for clearance of a bare board.

I've sold them in the past but only for the same price that I paid for the console before restoration. I wouldn't sell them for profit. I just enjoy the restoration process, I find it satisfying.
