20:31 No that has to be spot on considering it makes the second reference to "digging" and the significance of that revealed later, with being buried alive to escape and all.

What most people refer to as 'competitive gaming' these days is a total joke. I'd love to see some of these 'pros' go up against late 90's early 00's teams I played with/against like 5150 etc. We created gaming ladders like OGL with games like Tribes and Unreal Tourny out of shear love of the game. No one cared about money... You'd see a whole lot of 'experts' getting their shit pushed in by a load of guys who worked a 40 hours week *BEFORE* spending another 60+ in game just practicing for a match.

Because fighting is super gay. I mean look at the oiled up naked and sweaty wrestlers of ancient Greece that started Martial Arts as a whole, all martial arts is sweaty naked dudes rolling around on eachother, the only thing changing is the rules...

hi i'm back 2 months later to say that i'm writing a story about a robot created for the purpose of being a servant/companion showchasing the 'latest advances in technology', always touted as perfect and super intelligent, getting chastised and beginning to hate itself for having imperfections in its code. it leaves the place it was built at while the night shift guards aren't looking and runs off. after a lot of robotic body horror later, it's completely changed its appearance and looks both terrifying and absolutely awesome. it detaches from and grows to resent the very humans that once admired it then pulls a luigi mangione on the ceo of its creator company. it starts going around and killing some shitheads, and this is what makes it finally satisfied with itself. there's some more plotlines i'm still figuring out if you couldn't tell this is my transmasc autistic self-insert power fantasy

I disagree with the idea that Owen saw static, nothing, inside of them. The way I understand it is in the title of the movie. I Saw the TV Glow is recognition, seeing yourself in someone or something else. So when they cut themselves open, they see that very same light they recognized years ago. They were finally brave enough to look inside themselves to see if there really was nothing, and instead they found that same light that captivated them as a child

this video (and "i saw the tv glow) made me realize that I was actually some flavor of nonbinary instead of a full on trans man. I think I was just leaning so heavily into masc gender territory because I didn't think my family would understand otherwise. But now I realize that they, or others, don't have to understand me for me to live a happy life. Thank you :)

14:34 "Your wife should nvr feel that she has more pwr ovr you" I've had uncles say something VERY similar. ANNND likewise have had women in my family confide in me a similar and equally obtuse practice in power dynamics... Painting the picture in my mind of a heteronormative dystopian hellscape but with a manicured lawn and wrapped in a bow. I'm gonna take heat for this but I feel like the state of communication and education (relationship-wise) within cishet couples is down-bad-atrociously and criminally neglected, if not atrophied to the point of quantum heat death! talk about cold! talk about desolation! at first i believed it was a generational thing, but the women aforementioned are my age or younger (millennial/Genz). 🤖 as the robot alien 👽, i oftentimes find myself musing my family's rigid, mechanical, black and white, binary behaviors vis-a-vis my fluid, nonbinary analog-nsss. in these moments I feel LONELY and yearn for chosen family 😢😮‍💨

18:32 I know this feeling ALL too well‼️ Last year I was standing in the closet looking for a shirt to wear when my mom knocked/opened the door. I GRABBED my binder and shoved my arms through tearing cartilage in my shoulder in the process. It was sooo painful😢 still to this day ppl are confused af how i injured myself "putting on a shirt". yeahhhh... I get to paranoid whenever I hear footsteps by my door cause I'm usually not "performing heteronormative" when in my room 😢😭💀.

I know a lot of both cis and trans autistic people really love and relate to robots. I was not familiar with Aigis before this video, but she reminds me of a lot of robot or cyborg characters that I have seen as possible autistic allegories. A robot who acts robotic at first and initially seeming cold and unexpressive and then becomes more humanlike is similar to my experience as a cis-male autistic who didn't have a social life in school, was incredibly awkward and was emotionally stunted for a long time. I was a Star Trek kid, and I found Seven of Nine very relatable. Data would be the more obvious comparison with his quest to become more human, but I found Seven more impact Gul because of the way she was a human but had become more machine than person, and slowly learns (with some often unhelpful teaching) how to be a person again.

I think that I am more afraid to watch this movie than many horror movies. My current understanding is genderfluid, and I can have many days I can be completely fine being masculine, so much that I kind of hate becoming aware of those days that I am not. That bit about feeling like someone dug out my insides, now that feels like the story of my life. On a personal note I do feel like I am always looking for that piece of fiction that might say something of how I feel. But explaining that dug out feeling just makes me feel anxious. All things considered, there probably wouldn't be anything for me to transition to. I don't like my reflection most of the time, but I know it was made by trying to avoid things I was not supposed to. All things considered, I am still trying to build myself up, it just sucks when I try to come out as non-binary a supportive family member says that I will always be her "son".

For clarification the Johnny Test segment everyone thought of is an actual episode. It may actually be from the pilot episode. I’ve watched it, here’s the synopsis: Johnny’s sister’s want to become more attractive for Gil so they develop the “Hotness salt” but they decide to test it on Johnny because they are afraid of side effects. He does it in exchange for some stupid stuff he wanted. Turns out there are side effects and he turns into the hideous monster that appears after the girl version in the intro. But as luck has it mole people or something attack the town and he uses his strength in this form to defeat them. So it’s probably worse than the roller derby story wise.

I found it. It is the first episode "Johnny to the center of the earth". and he tests the salt in order to use their drill to go get his father's new camera back from the mole people.

4:39 He is a clone of the manga's protagonist (Alita/Gally). He is one of several clones that Alita had, but for some reason in the manga he has the appearance of a man, even though all the clones initially looked exactly the same as Alita, well, they all had a unique personality, and in the case of Sechs it seems that he decided to be a man, so in the manga he is always seen as one We can assume that he "transitioned" in some way (Since in the manga Gally is only a brain (or a head) and the rest of her body is mechanical The first manga is really good, it's really worth it, the second one isn't as good, but it's still good, and the prequel is still airing Edit: 5:33 These themes are also seen in that manga, it explores a lot about what makes me "me"

i have a very hard time understanding/resonating with this movie for some reason, i dont know if its because im a trans man, or because i didnt have as hard of a time accepting i was trans (accepting i was a man yea, but i knew i wasnt a woman as soon as i found out that was an option-) ive heard its harder for trans women to accept being trans, because how horrifically women, trans women, and even feminine men are treated- its scary to face that- i dont know i just how true that is- but ive only experienced one side of the coin lol- i dont know if i was just expecting the trans stuff to be more potent- like for Owen to accept herself at the end- i just felt like the whole time i was waiting for something to happen, like watching a movie from the wrong pov or like a decision was made that made the main plot point if the movie not happen, not sure how to explain it- but that may have been the point- because thats kinda what it was, we were watching a closeted trans girl stay closeted- im not sure-

I've always have believed that fgc tends to be more welcoming cuz, as fg being difficult, you can't just be inmature or rage quite every time you lose. Thus this having an impact over the people that "sticks" in the community. Just my opinion tho, I don't know that much about gaming

Another really great trans robot story is the web comic O, Human Star!! It gets very heavy but it’s such a fantastic commentary on queer relationships, struggles, and coming to terms with ones own identity. Highly, highly recommend it.

One of my favorite robot tropes is when robots that are born genderless decide for themselves how they identify, I think it’s a really neat underused concept. A small example I really love is Ultrakill’s Mindflayers, which literally create bodies for themselves to reflect their identity and gender. They’re robots made for war, and making these bodies has no tactical advantage or anything, but it brings them joy. It’s even stated that Mindflayers protect their self-made bodies rather than their more delicate machinery because of how important their bodies are to them. In a game where machines are fueled on blood and made for warfare, it’s honestly such a genuinely sweet moment. (And also a great in-universe justification for why a war machine has boobs)
