Which fountain pen brand with broad nib is best for smooth writing
@thewetpen3 күн бұрын
@poornimasalian308 Almost any brand that uses a broad nib will be smooth, but JoWo or Bock broad nibs are reliably very smooth, and they're found in dozens of brands

I purchased it and I am very very disappointed with quality. Though it is quite expensive, it does not provide quality ink.
@thewetpen5 күн бұрын
In what way do you find it to be low-quality? I find the color to be good, and it is clearly very waterproof. The flow of the ink may not be perfect for every pen, but that's true of every ink. But perhaps you think there's a quality issue somewhere else?

I live in Seattle and somehow only just now discovered your ink. I have such a deep connection to these colors! I often try to explain the color of deception pass to people, and I was so happy to see some red tones in the blackberry. Thanks so much for representing our corner of the world!

Nice video! I've met Kobayashi's team at trade shows in Tokyo countless times but never visited any of their stores in Shizuoka. Btw: Ken Takeda is a mini celeb here. He's written books and has his own line of inks, planner refills, and more, has a popular blog about ink, and attends pretty much all shows here.
@thewetpen8 күн бұрын
Thanks Jacob 🙂 That was the impression that I got about Ken Takeda, but I've been wondering where is celebrity status came from. His blog and social media? Or was he in the business side of things first? The Kobayashi shop that I visited was pretty nice, but I think I'll want to check out some of their other locations next time. The Yotsuba was a goldmine 🙂

I never heard of this brand before, I have some Jinhao (82 mini, 82 and 100) and was planning on getting a Asvine as I heard many great things about the smoothness of their nibs (and I stand on the extreme side of the fence when it comes to smooth or feedback feel), this one looks incredible as well! I'd love to know how it compares to an Asvine, which is a bit more expensive.
@thewetpen15 күн бұрын
I only have a few Asvine pens, but I think that their nibs are good... but nothing special. I'd take a Kaigelu nib over an Asvine for smoothness any day. That said, there's always variation from nib to nib, and there's always variation according to a person's writing style, so there's no certainty. Good luck!
@Sphiyel15 күн бұрын
@@thewetpen You just saved me 20€! I'm definitely getting the new Kaigelu 316A

I think your appellation of "Christmas Red" is spot on. I chose this (Supergiant) for writing a letter the other day largely arbitrarily, but I liked it a lot and one thing I thought was that it was a Christmassy Red

Can anyone tell me how heavy the sailor vase bottles are?
@thewetpen19 күн бұрын
Yes, although there is some variation. In general the bottle in its box weighs about 190g, plus or minus 5 grams. The box accounts for about 10g of that weight. I don't currently have any empty ones, so I can't weight them without ink.
@몽.펠.파19 күн бұрын

Does anyone have any tips on how to use the small bottles since the top is too small for most nibs? Looking to make the least mess possible lol. Appreciate any tips.
@thewetpen19 күн бұрын
It depends on the pen. If you're using one with a cartridge converter, the easiest thing to do is remove the converter from the pen, fill it from the bottle, and put it back into the pen. If you're using a piston filler, then you can either unscrew the section of your pen and eye-dropper it (or unscrew the nib unit), or, if all else fails, pour out the ink into a reasonably sized bottle or bowl 🙂

Chris is a wonderful pen etc. reviewer. So pleased that you've gotten to know him and his work. Some time back Chris sent me several pens, inks, paper...One note on your Frankenpen: See that champagne colored part on the end? It may be the material itself, or the beginning of deterioration of the material. I don't know of a way to stop it. So please be really gentle with the pen. That style of lever is a "box" fill, so called because the opening where the lever fits onto the barrel has a metal box around it. Many lever fill pens don't, and they're subject to shrinking, stretching, warping... Great choice on Chris's part! You are, imho, a very lucky person. Enjoy your first restored classic!
@thewetpen23 күн бұрын
Thanks! Chris is awesome. I wish that he were nearby so that I could really get to know him... I'm terrible about keeping up with writing letters. Since this pen, I've purchased a couple more vintage pens, but none that I enjoy using as much as this one.

Great videos! Thank you for posting them. I was curious about this set as I do have several Colorverse Inks (Fountain Pen Day 2024, Blue Dragon 2024, Hayabusa 54, Cat, etc) I watched most of them in batches and I think my favorite was that purple with the glitter (which I'm not a huge fan of either) that made me think of an abalone shell, Milky Way. There were a LOT of blues and purples in this one and though purple is my favorite, yeesh, that was a bit too much for even me. I did like this last one very much, but I just used fountain pen ink to memory keep and journal and that color would fade sooner than a dark one, I would think. Hope you've had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Again, thank you for taking the time to make these videos!

I just received this pen as a present for Christmas. It is the same ebonite body. I have not inked it yet. The clip looks a bit tiny for the size of the pen but since I do not carry my fountain pens out of the house, it should work well as a roll stop.
