We think we won but we didn’t. We sided with a “ally” that was a Trojan horse and we now reap the consequences. Should have kept marching to Moscow. But that’s what happens when you make a deal with the devil.

This game was much more than a game. It is an accurate document what war is and always was. Pure terror and evil. This game is absolutely timeless and amazing and scary at the same time. This game open your eyes. There are no winner in a war. War is not a funny adventure, it is a total nightmare.

What I find interesting here, about WaW, is that this is the only Call of Duty that did not feature the western front of the Atlantic/European theater. It is also only one of two CoDs that didn't have a campaign mission taking place during Operations Overlord or Neptune. Just a fun thing to put out for Activision that they don't need historical landmark battles to draw us into a good war game.

I'll never forget playing this when I was 13 years old. Such an incredible game that depicted the visceral horrors of war and the loss of humanity all sides experienced. And even after all that, when this cutscene ended, the horror was just beginning... What followed was an absolute mystery that would soon become a worldwide phenomenon. Nazi Zombies. I was the first one who beat the campaign at my school. Everyone else just played online. They thought I was crazy and lying but soon enough they realized the truth. 2008 was a crazy time...

The ending of Call of Duty: World at War, it's very bleak and rightfully so. The two bell tolls once the text (1:39) shows always made me think that symbolically, they were to represent the bombs used on Japan.

They should let schools play this cod game. It’s one of the most headfirst atmospheric depictions of World War Two EVER made and reminds you of the shear amount of blood spilled during this terrible but impactful period of history.

I know this is bait, but you cannot be anything but a bot to make such a false and idiotic statement. The difference between the brutal you say of WWI, and the deadly and destructive nature of WWII, was that WWI didn't start with soldiers occupying towns from within, or bombing cities from the beginning, or the use of eugenics to incarcerate- and later systemically kill- multiple groups of people. (The Jewish people are the ones we remember when we think of the Holocaust, but the physically and mentally disabled, non-white Europeans, "Gypsies", and anyone else the Axis powers chose to persecute were also put into concentration camps.) WWII affected everyone, everywhere, regardless of their neutrality or location in the war. If you didn't have troops from your country involved, chances are high that you still had battles take place in your country or territory. In 1924, the U.S. Department of War (now Department of Defense) totaled all killed, wounded, and missing by cause of WWI to be 59.5 million. WWII had 60 million *killed* alone. Adding the other factors into those casualty numbers dwarfs the total number of WWI casualties. So, no, WWI was not worse than WWII, but it was certainly fought over a less defensible reason.

7:36 - 黄沙百战穿金甲,不破美帝终不还。 "This is actually two lines of a poem composed in the Song Dynasty. The original poem was something along the lines of "Clad in iron armour in these yellow sand dunes, we will not return to our homes until we break the <nomadic tribe>!", and in game they replace the nomadic tribe with 'American Imperialists'." I can’t help but feel a deep irony to Mac Arthur’s speech. “A world founded upon faith and understand”. Look at what the nazis did to the Jews during the Holocaust and the period before that. “Give man and the fulfillment of his most cherished wish… of freedom, tolerance and justice” Where did that get you? 60 million dead in one single conflict
