Thank you, Nick. We will change the world if we all choose what lights us up!

What keeps me going is the fact that I valued myself enough to create a studio for myself, it’s not big enough and it’s cold in the winter but it’s my dedicated space for working and exploring. 😊

I love this : “We don’t need to understand where we’re going to end up. All we have to is begin and be in feeling.” It reminds me that I can stay heart-centered and trust in the unknown. ❤️

When I first started painting 10 years ago with Shiloh Sophia, she recommended going to the thrift store and finding something luscious to paint in. I found a black velvet jump suit which was fabulous for winter and some sleeveless dresses for summer. That's also how I found in expensive "smocks" for my students. I'm a messy painter so I love having clothes that I paint in and don't worry about.

I’ve been on an abstract art journey for the last year, and among many things, i struggle with knowing what to do to refine my work. This was very helpful.

Thanks for this inspiring interview. I’m really interested to know more about the Global project, the international collaborations and the Fragment collaborations. I admire the artwork, strong and touching. The magic of inventing ways to combine seemingly opposite elements👏🎨

Thank you Nick for the confirmation. In the last year I have been wearing my " old office dresses"in my studio. I love the comfortable feeling of them. People ask me if I'm going someplace because I'm not wearing jeans. I don't feel like I'm working when I'm playing with paint. I feel fancy!

Im from the uk, rules could be different elsewhere, but u cant take a blade in hand luggage, u have to put stuff like that, and liquid paint etc in 'hold'. Also, the cabin case, (roller, as Nick calls it), rucksacs and holdalls, are separate from the small bag unless you strap them together, and the overall size is within the allowed size limit weight. Make sure you check this, really important! Some Airlines are really strict, one particularly is Ryanair, so please, don't get caught out!

Thank you so much for sharing your journey and experiences. You're inspiring me to develop my own teaching workshops and through your insights I'm feeling encouraged to continue with my dream. Something you said that really struck accord with me was that you felt that with your past you were perhaps a little reticent to proclaim yourself as a superstar. That in itself is what makes your words have more meaning. I appreciate your candidness and truely believe that if more people follow your example by encouraging individualness through feeling that we can really make a difference in the world. Your empathy and compassion is a superpower. Keep up the great work and I'm looking foward to future podcasts. Cheers 🙏💜

Strangely one of your less commented videos, on one of the more important points in art.... the making of browns (same as grays). What people don't get is that its these colours that make the 'brights' seeable. Good stuff. PS.... running at dawn, is the best

How do you get through customs with carry on when your bag is full of liquid paints? You would be way over the limit.
@happyatsealevel20 сағат бұрын
We didn't carry it on the plane. We didn't have any trouble as we just checked it all the way through. No problems.

I usually wear a slim Fanny pack with my boarding pass and passport and wallet. They when boarding if they are a stickler for the two bag rule I take it off and put it in my carryon and once on the plane I put it back around my waist. Never had a problem doing it this way.

I love when to hear such lovely clear literary expressions of complex emotion, thought and ideas I have no words for. I’ve tried to find words in exploration of what paper having been remade to a blank sheet says about its history and memory. The people that held it before. The unseen and intangible. I’m bursting in wonder and seeing. Thanks for posting.

I have had my paints confiscated in three countries. Liquid gel brand knew it didn’t matter. An I only brought the amount of liquid allowed. I only travel now with pan watercolors.

As a Jew and artist who has been exploring the intersection of those core identities since October 7, 2023, I cannot overstate the significance of listening to Judy speak about her Jewish identity and its impact on her art so seamlessly and matter-of-factly at this terrifying (for many Jews) point in time. Grateful to hear her speak so frankly about the challenges she has faced and how she works through them.

This was a most beautiful episode, Nicholas. I feel like we were all taken by Judy's serenity and humility. Found myself rewinding some bits in case I missed something... Thank you. And it's great to see a woman artist at that age. In 7 years I'll be 80 and who knows, I might be wise, humble and peaceful like that... And I might even be on your podcast! 😊
