Whip a fly off of a horse’s ear? Did this gentleman say Knarsty? Knarly and Nasty? He had his fly rod curing down to a set temperature and minute…Baker?

Been using a Aventik 13' 10wt spey rod for surf fishing, its a beast of a rod and i can cast basically as far as i want. I run a 700 grain floating head along with a 725 intermediate sink head. Im looking for a new set not because of it being to heavy to lift line out, but its to heavy to rest under my arm to strip back. I like using 2 hand for retrieval and i cant because its just a little much. How heavy would the 8/9 opal anf how well does it punch into tbe wind. I dont want to buy anymore rods and this is a 700+ price

Well done review. A guy named Halliday first introduced Beulah rods to me on a spey forum. I use a 12'8' Platinum G2 6 wt spey rod for Great Lakes potamodromous trout. It is a fantastic rod which continues to impress me as my spey casting improves. I am considerong the 3 wt Beulah spey for smallmouth fishing and for the larger central PA trout fisheries. The Beulah actions are well designed, smooth and rewarding to cast.

None of those were over 30lbs. Not like a fisherman to add weight to his fish tails. Awesome trip though.👍🏽

I can’t justify the price I mean all it does is hold a hook ? My vise was £27 it rotates stainless steel I bought it in China it’s brilliant but would never spend big money on something that just hold a hook it’s a total rip off

Yeah tell them how you stole my daughter from me when I was 19 yrs old. Tell them how you people paid me 3,000 dollars and trick me into signing my parental right over to the friends in adoption people my daughter is 20 now and she knows nothing of me and I had to live with such a hurtful painful life without my daughter I can only imagine how she has felt for these 18 yrs without me!

If i may add, fly line sits on factory spool for quite some time when new to when angler fishes and might find it bit springy when new, very easy fix. After putting line on reel get two chairs in kitchen 8 foot apart and if like me you have the old school ones with a small barrel on the top, just get an elastic band or a loop of braid, pass that through front loop and put that over chair barrel and walk up one chair then the other, then back again till the head of fly line is out of reel, put reel with brake slightly tightened and set reel on table. Leave for 1 hour, job done. Remember 90 ft of fly line is on a 2 inch to 4 inch spool when new. Fly line now will be factory straight. I also bought this fly line in 4 wt, 5wt, 6wt, 7wt and 8 wt for different rods i own and use. The original (1st one, old stock)single hand spey 3D i got not the new line so can't speak on that.

Great vidoe, Had a cast with same line this morning on my salmon club river and on my 7/8 weight 10' rod it handled beautifully, a director had a cast with my rod also and said im getting one of those. Casts great in the wind. I use it not to spey cast as i can do that with any wf line, it's the river i fish and i love this line.

Thanks for this review. Recently purchased the "elite" version which I think is basicslly the same line in that the head length and grains are similar iirc.I was concerned with casting lighter flies but hearing you say you cast dries and wet flies gives me confidence I didn't buy a line suited for streamers only.

For a person like myself - sensitive to rapid movement - please consider placing the rod on a table or some stable surface that it can be seen... Just noting that almost every time you brought the rod into view you were shaking it - driving me crazy... lol! I was looking or a nice display of the rod from butt to tip.... Thanks

Big Smile... I know I'm somewhat late to the show... however I am influenced enough to consider this rod in 12wt.... And, incidentally, in future reviews please keep the product in view, especially long enough to show (all) the details... I came away knowing more about your blue & white shirt, from the perspective of camera time, (lol!) than the fly rod.

I have one and like it. I do have two minor complaints though. 1) the less rotation tension the more wiggle in the arm at the body. I have it set right at the point where there is zero slop. 2) the jaws need a wee nudge or guidance to line up perfectly. You can actually see it slightly move up and down as you turn the tightening screw

This video was a terrific internet find. I learned about SGH from Ernie Schweibert's book way back when I was first learning about flyfishing for trout. I was immediately captivated by Sparse's stories once I got hold of a copy of FDAN. As a young man, I was so eager to accrue experiences and enmesh myself into the whole culture of fly fishing. And eventually I moved within a half day's drive of the Catskill streams that Sparse fished and wrote about. What a treat to learn more about the man's life and hear him speak!

Although these are cast jaws, rather than the hardened tool steel of the original LAW (and some other expensive copies) the jaw design is almost the same - that is to say amazing. If the LAW is good enough for Davie McPhail and Oliver Edwards, it's likely to be the best. Start saving.
