Hello, the upper body of a woman is in a bright sky (long hair/large motion blur), and the lower body is in a blue screen, combined in a relatively dim background. How to fix the highlighted edges without using plugins? Is it possible to release a tutorial for explanation.

I found VectorFrameBlend V1.1 by Niolai Wustemann to do a great job in Denoising CG, that tool worked better for me when I didn't use MotionVectors pass for some reason.

Is there a link to the video for the workshop you two are referencing that I can watch somewhere? The classic way of comping, the smart way, and the "sophisticated way"? I like the idea of that asset promotion, and I'm wondering what other gems i might be missing. Thanks!

That was a very well put together tutorial for stamps use in a production environment. However it does change my opinion to avoid stamps, I think correct usage of channels and pipes is far more visual and accessible. I was interesting to see you explain the uses of stamps within a "layer" confinement, which I think is good to really articulate as this practice, but I have never seen this practice actually followed through (even including in this example for most of the tutorial). I think that this helped me articulate that where the main difference in how you intend to use Stamps and the issues you see it resolving. Those points for me were, for asset management, and script readability when zoomed in on a script. Stamps is in essence, being used for relative paths on assets, you can just use relative paths on assets, or even added a button to make them absolute, or some hybrid. In the naming convention approach of using relative/absolute paths method, there are a lot of additional tricks you can do to make this method scale far more than stamps. Additionally, I think stamps makes scripts unreadable because you have to constantly be zooming in and out to gain context. A script should be "readable " from the zoomed out view, with in 5 seconds of opening. The way to achieve that is with adhering to the native workflow of nuke so scripts are streamlined in a visually cohesive workflow. I appreciate your on going efforts to further our industry and look forward to your next video.

Tony, what's it the "Massive Panel Pyside" that I see on your nuke?

It’s a nifty panel for quickly manipulating nodes with python. It’s made by Alexey Kuchinski, you can grab it from nukepedia

I am sorry if I sound too categorical on this but stamps has made me lose months of my work life. It is also not adapted stereo for conversion of a script because people can connect anything anywhere and start to completely disregard any layers in depth.

Really interesting way of comping - I will integrate this into my work. Also, silly question but how do u make ur backdrops but name them beforehand?
@CompositingMentor5 ай бұрын
There are many “autoBackdrop” tools out there on nukepedia and elsewhere. Mine is custom, from a few different tools spliced together. My special sauce is i am determining the size of the text based on how far apart nodes are in X in the nodegraph. So the farther apart in x your selection, the bigger the text. It’s not perfect, but saves me a lot of time. I have been meaning to completely polish the backdrop tool and make a nicer version for release. Maybe one day… 😅

Stamps are really a way to make things easier for people that don't know how to comp cleanely. There is never a good reason to do a hidden input instead of a clean line with a dot to create a corner.

is there anything in nuke like the curves tool in photoshop where you can manually place pins along the curve to protect a region from movement? i.e. you could set a pin where you want the toe to end fantastic video btw
@CompositingMentor6 ай бұрын
The ColorLookup node is basically the curves tool in Photoshop, but it's very manual and clunky. ctrl + Shift click on line is to add point, that you can move around. have a look. but even there, it would be an overall change and not a per - pixel change from an input image. but very good question. a Toe or soft falloff could be achieved with that tool yes!
@fretstain6 ай бұрын
@@CompositingMentor I'd heard of it but haven't played with it much - I'll have to do so now, thanks. I'm coming from a matte painting/photoshop perspective with the intent to "finally figure out how to use the grading tools in nuke properly" but I definitely find the purely numbers based approach really unintuitive coming from something visual like curves.

Regarding getting an alpha for your reflection if you render a 3D object with the RayRender - my good friend Claus Lunt showed me the following: Just duplicate the whole setup and give the object a constant white color, then render it with the RayRender. Now you have a complete white reflection of the object which you can now shuffle into the alpha channel of your other reflection. Easy and it's doing the trick! 🙂
