That early white Rover P6 keeps frequently popping up. Sometimes not parked in safe places. Wouldn't get away with that now. Must have belonged to the filmmaker's husband or someone she knew well.

Just disgusting. Tents could be tagged and checked on the way out? No tent, £100 fine?

They should donate all the tents and clothing that are still somewhat clean and useable.
@captainwyoutube
@captainwyoutube Жыл бұрын
The problem with the tents is they are not packed up. You would have to pay people to take them down, pack them up (sometimes parts are missing), and convey them to the right place, as well as all the infrastructure of managing a small army of packers. This becomes economically non-viable.

This is absolutely disgusting behaviour for which there is no excuse, a sad testament to our times and the disrespect of our current generation who are hardly functioning as human beings. I go to several festivals every year with a group of friends (all blokes) We drink, we revel, we party and have a great time, however we tidy as we go. Our rubbish is always put into the bins provided and our recycling (beer cans etc) is sorted and put in its designated bin also. We take EVERYTHING back with us..I use the same tent, chair, sleeping bag etc again and again and again. We look after our equipment. When we leave, the only telltake sign that we had even been there would be the slightly flattened grass of where our tents had been. Scum that do this should be banned from every festival and campsite in the country.

i remember when i woke up from being drunk at sonisphere knebworth in 2011, the camp sites were completly empty of people but tents EVERYWHERE, but the one advantage of all of the mess and stuff left behind, is what you find. i found unopened bottles of jagermeister and beer and all sorts of booze, i found souvenirs of the festival like merch shirts all still in bags, some extra cash which was helpful for the hangover i had, i was there till around 4pm when everyone had cleared out the venue by like 12pm xD so i had so many tents to invade and loot. but i did feel bad for those who had to come and clean it all up, i got chatting to some of the people, they seemed down for the challenge and if i wasnt in such a bad state and at the time slightly concerned how i was going to get home being nearly 200 miles away with no form of means to get back home ( i did in the end by finding a security guard to contact family in the surronding town) i would of stayed and helped out. woulf of been so beneficial for me,

Great movie, Hope you enjoyed it. I also walked in spring 2018. Unforgettable!. Don't wonder and ask yourself why people walk the camino, ask yourself why you walk the camino. I hope the next time you walk, it will put more smiles on your face than in this video. Buen Camino Peregrino!

I only went that one time in 2005, and even back then the place was like a bombsite, at least I still packed my stuff away. If I don't feel like taking my tent home after a festival, or it's damaged or whatever Id at least dismantle it and chuck it on the recycle pile.
@captainwyoutube
@captainwyoutube 3 жыл бұрын
Best thing for anyone to do if they really can't bear taking it home is dismantle and pack away complete in original bag, with all pegs etc., then it might be picked up by salvage crews and passed on. It would take far too long for clear up crews to search out components and pack up tents - if not packed up, next stop landfill or incineration.

Did you cross El Rio Duero in Burgos? I'd have to have a lot of vino to put up with the group noise and highway traffic. I'm very hermit-like. I don't like walking on pavement. I've been to Santiago De Campostela the easy way, como una turista, no como una peregrina. Not sure I can do bed bugs. The interior of the Catedral is not what I imagined. The Way seems more commercialized than I had thought. Did you have medical insurance in Spain? Where did you get your map?
@captainwyoutube
@captainwyoutube 4 жыл бұрын
Donna the map was from the tourist office at Roncesvalles, the first stop. There's a story associated with that, described in my book 'Jesus of the Edges' available on Amazon. I came across no bedbugs - heard the Spanish govt have come down hard on that. If the river you mention was on the Camino, I crossed it. Several bridges on the outskirts if Burgos - the scene of another story in my book. W

My novel The Catching of the Camino has been published. It’s a romantic novel with the Camino as its setting. All who have walked the Camino will recognise the locations and Albergue’s mentioned. As well as a romantic novel it also a humorous look at the human condition. Here is its blurb: Avril is walking the Camino Francés in the hope of ridding herself of an inner demon that has cursed her young life when she meets Giovanni who has suffered a personal tragedy. He is in a dark place and needs rescuing. He had a dream directing him to walk the Camino. He undertakes it, but is an awkward and reluctant pilgrim. Riku, a Japanese zoologist, has his normally calm and relaxed nature shaken when he meets Ella; a Bulgarian Environmentalist with a carefree and cheeky disposition - Zeeta, a Parisian poet is out to discover the secrets of the universe but finds the philosophy of a Greek prison officer more appealing. Geordie is out to test his strength and mental agility to mark his seventieth birthday and discovers more about himself on the Camino that he had in his entire life. What do these pilgrims and others walking the Camino Francés have in common? What is it that binds them together, making them reveal secrets to each other they have never reveal to their closest friends or family? Could it be love or is it just the magical charm of the Camino effect? Be humoured, shocked and surprised by this unusual love story that blossomed on the road to Santiago. Available @amazon.com and all Amazon sites.

You also made me laugh quite a bit at 25.14 with your *mumble mumble mumble*; so much so that I've decided to put you on the waiting list for #3 husband in case the current one doesn't work out. Good job! I'm walking the CF starting on 12 May this year out of Burgos to Santiago and if time, Fisterre and perhaps Muxia. Can't put my boss through the stress of any extra time off work than a month maximum. xx
