Now just the a small part of the R K O theater entrance is left. Where the theatre seats & screen were sits a huge aparment complex. Perfect, Just what no one ever needed. One look at the area makes you wonder what the decision makers were thinking.

The first time I heard opera I was 7 or 8 years old. My 13 year old brother was playing a record of it. I didn’t like then. Over the years opera grew on me and years ago I joined a group of people in Opera Buff’s in Spokane, Washington. We would get together and go see live operas and the operas from the Met in New York when they were via satellite in the local theaters. This was a cute video. Dame Joan Sutherland was quite the singer.

My favorite Theatre as a kid, you had the Quartet, and the Prospect, but this was my favorite, i saw so may movies with my childhood best friend Hector, so may memories during the 70s and early 80s, i moved out of Flushing in 1982. Broke my heart they never restored this place, such a beautiful place lost.

They really destroyed this place very sad.
