Prescott is a great place to visit, but you do NOT want to live there. After 14 years in a great house, we sold and moved away. Prescott is a rundown town. Some call it ambiance. We called it old and unkept. You have look long and hard for a DECENT restaurant to go to. Good retail is almost non-existent, the mall is 75% empty. The town has allowed 20,000 more homes to be built but has done nothing to improve the infrastructure eg, no road work, no added grocery stores, retail or restaurants. The people there are eccentric. We lived in a development of million-dollar homes, but nasty, nosey people surrounded us. Right down the street were beggars and low-income housing. The winters have gotten really cold (highs in the 30's) and lots of snow. Go there for a day or weekend. Have fun. Enjoy the scenery. Just don't move there.

One of the wonderful things we do here is support the fine arts. Every Christmas time, we celebrate "Acker Night" where the merchants downtown open up their shops and bring in musicians to seranade the public, seeking donations to fund the arts. Prescott schools teach students to play instruments and sing. The high school Chorale grop has been invited to Carnegie hall, the marching band to Pearl Harbor, and the high school even has a string orchestra. Again, all funded by donations, not taxes. The school district claims the highest rating of public schools in the state.

Living here in Prescott Valley you will get a lot more house for the money … and it’s only about 20 minutes to Prescott Town. Low, low crime, not a lot of shopping but who cares anymore. Grocery stores abound, a big town entertainment center, lakes and lots iof wide open spaces! I love looking out at Minkus Mountain every day from my back yard. Quiet and little traffic. Cost of living about 22% less than Prescott. You will want to go Phoenix for your hospital needs if you need, the one here is AWFUL. Doctors are in short supply but you will eventually find one. Being on Medicare is not a problem. Lots of dentists!
