Apparently the RBL have a vacancy for diversity and inclusion, with a outrageously high salary. This is a slap in the face to all who have served in our forces. There's numerous horror stories saying you lot wont help any of our homeless veterans on the street, your more interested in your sick woke agenda and making a massive profit, which is obviously helping everyone, but the real people who need it. Myself, and many others will never donate again.

Why is the rbl giving money to invictus just for harry and his wife to squander it. I will never give again whilst the rbl is linked to that charlatan, never.

God bless the veteran's from all the parts of the commonwealth. Thay need to be fully honoured and respected. It such a shame that the Royal British Legion has become no more than a money grabbing organisation with nearly 90 million pounds in the bank, pays ther administration and senior management obeisance salaries and now wants to pay £65,000 pounds for a Diversity equity and Inclusion manager. We have nearly 5000 veteran's living on the streets I the uk that the ministry of defence and government have abandoned. It may be a good idea members to stop greasing the palm's of the fat cat's running the organisation and focus on the destitute veteran's that truly need the members help. Or do the members no longer remember why the Legion was formed all those years ago. In the early days l know from my dad's experience after being a pow in Burma that the Legion was there and helped our family after malaria killed him when I was only 5 years old. Then the management were manly all part time professionals that did the job for little or no reward. Now it's big business with big profits going into the people running its pockets. The whole Legion organisation should be ashamed of itself, it would be bad enough if it was a couple of hundred vet's homeless and destitute on the streets but nearly 5000 on the streets while the Legion seats on 87 million in the bank. Every member or the Legion should look at themselves and ask what are we doing, as it isn't what the founding principles of the Legion was, no veteran will be abandoned or turned away. Well that founding principle must have been abandoned in exchange for corruption and profits. I only hope the present members may rediscover the founding principles. But I'm not holding my breath as with all corporations as the Legion has become its profits before everything.

One year training and a second year spent in Cyprus or in Bahrain. It was good to do something entirely different and see the World for a bit, after a 5 year engineering apprenticeship. I joined the RAF at 21 after being deferred to complete my apprenticeship.

My Polish father fought at Monte Cassino. He married my Italian mum, a couple of years later. When I was 17 we visited Monte Cassino on one of our trips to visit our Italian family. I, as a 17 year old girl wasn't really wanting to be there. But that trip changed me. As my father walked amongst the graves of people he knew, his faced and demeanour changed and as was looking around, I thought, " he's not here right now, his back on the battle field.". I wandered off and left him with his thoughts, the rest of the family, a little behind. I suddenly had an awakening looking at the gravestones, that many of these men were barely older than me. I went back, hugged my dad and silently I realised that my dad was an incredible human being, not just my dad. Even all these years later, this memory makes me cry. And I still miss my parents.

A truly modest and decent human being, the very best kind of Royal Marine. Who could possibly have known all those years ago, that this image would come to represent all the fortitude and determination to see the mission through, that was shown by our marines and soldiers there. There is no more fitting representation.

The story below is not an isolated case. Today in the Daily Mail there was an article about Roger Southern, 57, who was found deceased in his home on February 2. He was a member of the Staffordshire Regimental Association (SRA), Stafford branch. Members of the SRA rallied together to raise money to give Mr Southern a 'military-style' send off with standard bearers. The association reached out to the Stafford branches of the Royal British Legion and SSAFA Armed Forces charity for help but both refused to support the cause. It seems most charities today, including the RBL and the SRA, are more interested in taking public donations for the soul purpose of enriching the pockets of already wealthy CEOs. I am well connected and have heard many people promising they will no longer be supporting these charities and their greedy CEOs. I don't blame them. "My sister rang the British Legion for a flag party to attend the funeral of a lady who served in the Royal Artillery protecting London during WW2 (something she was very proud of, having written two books and made a film about her service, when she passed away in 2015, they hung up on her. She told me and I rang the Regimental Colonel of the Royal Artillery and explained to him. He was not surprised, but assured me and later phoned my sister that a full military funeral with an honour party from the Royal Artillery would be in attendance. He also assured us that the local British Legion would also be repesented. He was as I said not surprised the British Legion has a poor reputation unless they are being paid. My sister said he was a good as his word the Royal Artillery were magnificent the British Legion acted like they did not want to be there ".
