i wanna modern era dystopian kenshi style game so bad

Im hoping for lots of large interior spaces. Dungeons, buildings etc

I play my steam deck docked with a keyboard and very frequently

Honestly whatever they add, i just want to be able to do everything that npcs can do. For example if npcs are able to have raids and take over a city then we should be able to form our own army and take control of a city as well. I don't want any "limits" to what players can do compared to what npcs can do.

Morrowind has a similar dreamlike quality and was one of Kenshi's main inspirations. Rimworld is exactly like Kenshi's base building except its the entire game. Sunless Sea is somehow even more sinister and has a similar writing style

Thanks for this, the only way Rimworld is "like" kenshi, is if Kenshi was one loading zone, and all the AI just appeared at the edges. Other than that, no its not like kenshi at all, so thank you for that :P rimworld is its own beautiful game. can't wait for kenshi 2

So far the only kenshi like is a chinese game named matchless kungfu. Even R/kenshi already label it as Chinese Kenshi. Concept wise, it has a ton of potential. The only downside is it is still Early Access with bugs, balance issue, unpolished NPC, a cliffhanger and potential future changes by the devs. But overall the game is already feels like Beta release.

I found the running kenshi in desktop mode has some performance improvements for some reason. At least the in-game loading times and a bump to fps. Any chance you can test this too?

I would have to disagree on the whole underground dungeon thing because it wouldn't make much sense with the lore. adding undead or literal skeleton enemies would break the immersion built by the first game. I can see an underground sort of tech lab working, like if cat-lon's dome was deep underground inside the pit instead of on the surface, but I think if they did exist there should be very very few of them, like a top secret research lab. I also think if they did exist they should be strictly a late game area to explore. Other than that, it would kind of ruin the game for me because I'm so used to the interconnected world of the first game, adding separate load zones or 'rooms' to it that would load a micro map would ruin that for me, especially since it would likely put activity on the outside to a halt because of coding issues.

Kenshi is anything but a game.. is more like a lucid dream in the middle of a cold night that you fell asleep due to much drinking.. when you wake up is gone, and u try to submerge into that feeling again.. but you can't

Ended up being a video about similar games to Rimworld... Rimworld is ok but gets old fast.

Maybe a bit late but these games are very small portion reminds me of Kenshi. Not bad games at all but if you want a very similar game then I could suggest Veil of Crows which reminds me the closest to Kenshi. There is not so much party oriented city maker combat games on the market and suprised not so many tried to fill this niche. I personally would look at indie and smaller "less" recognized games. I hope kenshi 2 will live with it's heritage.

STORY AND QUESTS PLEASE!!!!! I've had kenshi for a long time and gave up quickly cause I couldn't figure the game out. About 2 weeks ago I discovered the star wars mod and I've been addicted. My only complaint is a story and quests.

Does the save files cross between deck and pc? Or I must have a new save if I came from pc to steam deck

console commands/admin panel, would be nice just to make large battles and stuff, and test the game

first, third and fourth ideas will be nice if have in the game, my personal is that the cities become more alive, if i sell my stuff of better quality i want the people to buy them (even if have a very little chance like the mod fun merchant life) and wear them, this will change state of the city like weapons and armor for example, if people instead of diyng to bandits and wild animals they start to kick them, the place will be more safe and this will attract more merchants, and if they buy my stuff they will start the same thing where they go, but an idea like this will never happen, and sorry about my poor english, its not my first language.

first and second idea i think is hard to be implemented, but the third is very needed, like underground tunnels conecting all the continent, but this will probably bug the camera.

How did you or nobody else mention that kenshi 2 is in the past so there will be alot more water & they talk about how people used too travel in boats and watercrafts so there definitely will be someone like that in kenshi 2.

kenshi imo would be better if they made the game harder made characters much easier to kill and increased the base cap to like 100. The best part about the game and what makes so unique is the combination of RPG and RTS elements, its the fact that you can have a battle with dozens of characters all with unique stats and gear fighting. Imagine instead of battles being just tiny skirmishes they were the size actually battle maybe hundreds of guy. I think it should also put more into the city building aspect and administration what would be ideal for me is; imagine if you could have NPC squads patrol our settlements, better slavery ,cause it seems broken in the vanilla, imagine if you could decide to be a free democracy or a cruel fisted autocracy. I also think they should focus more on the race. I love the Shek but I feel they are the weakest race in the game by this game being set 1000 years in the past has the chance to show the OG enforcers, which are hinted by skeleton dialogue in black desert city to be the ancestors of the Shek, are every where policing, fighting cannibals, and skin spiders they're everywhere. Where as in Kenshi they are an honor bound warrior race in decline. this game has the chance to show them as the enforcer class they once were. I'm very excited for what's to come next from this game series

part of me wants a Mount and Blade version of kenshi. but all we really need is to give the characters more life, they all become mindless drones the second you get control and its kind of boring

Disclaimer I don't claim to be an expert but I found a lot of things about this so here's what I do know. In my goal to try to make my own game that is similar to kenshi I found a lot of issues. First off as I see has already been discussed here the original ogre graphics engine definitely has a part to play in this and how it handles its load. There is a newer version of ogre called ogre next I don't think anyone's going to be porting over to that anytime soon but it does exist and it does run better. Second there is an issue with directX that would take me too long to explain but they refuse to fix it and it causes problems with a lot of different games and not enough people know about it to complain about it so nobody can force them to fix it. There is a project in the kenshi workshop where people are trying to compress the size of the textures in the game which from what I understand does help a lot I don't know if they've compressed all textures yet but I know it's still ongoing, and it in theory should definitely improve the game running. The only thing that I found to improve the longer stutters is to stop the character from running and let it finish loading and it loads much quicker it's not much of a suggestion but I know it works.

I think it struggles when using VRAM . I am curious if it gets better with something like a 3060Ti. Anything latest with 12GB of VRAM. I have the 1660Ti and it does struggle with loading, and I had it crash one time. was a memory issues but I never checked the logs. I just chalk it up to the Ogre engine and not being optimized very well. Amazing game.

Pretty sure the last time I played this it Bluescreened me. So I stopped playing xD

This is actually a very important video. Performance is an issue and I hope it will be considered in Kenshi 2.
