Townsend was already using Feedback (very loud) sound effects, with "angry wild stage showmanship" in 1965 (started breaking instruments a bit later). In 1965, Hendrix was just an excellent R&B guitarist from the bulk, backing up singers in USA... untill He arrived in London in 1967, and saw Townsend guitar-playing/dressing/attitude. JJJ

Somehow I prefer Leo's voice on this. It feels like he wrote it.

Leo wrote this for Rog. I think Leo was in awe of Roger here. Leo sings it beautifully on his own.

Roger sung this on his brief 2024 tour and he sounded great. He hasn't lost his voice yet even at 80 years old

Interesting that they never went for any harmonies; all done in unison. But what a fantastic collaboration, two great artists together!

@ there’s an argument that the kinks ripped off PNW garage bands from 1962/63.

Hard to believe this was the (almost) same band I saw live in 1989 in a giant outdoor stadium with about 50k people screaming behind me and Pete right in front of me blowing out my eardrums. Good times, great band.
