I've heard rumors abour a new Rayman game from UbiSoft and Michel Ancel basically confirmed it recently on his Instagram. Maybe this is the game? I'm kidding but I was like 13 when I found out about this and now I'm 25. Have to say though that right now the animations look extremely polished. Something I'd expect from Mario. Also the underwater idea eith the bright leaf is very interesting. I have a feeling like the pre-production phase is soon gonna be over and then the actual development will start

Ubisoft confirmed the rumors and said they're currently experimenting with Rayman IP and are working on a few Rayman games rn. I definetely look forward on those and also this fan game as well!

Everything is just a bit too slow and floaty, as if the air is too thick. Saw the same problem with the sliding showcase. Speeding everything up just a bit, would probably make it feel a lot more satisfying.

I was actually just looking at some of the 2020 footage to compare and realised how much faster it was. Part of the reason why it slowed down was so that you'd have more time to react to things during gameplay - you'll be able to perform more precise dodges during combat for example, or do more complex aerial maneuvers. I'd rather have super tightly designed corridors with slower movement than more spread out ones with faster movement. It helps emphasise the inertia of his limbs too. I might try speeding it up just a tiny bit, by like 5%. It's worth a shot

​@@rayfan9876 Is speeding up the general timescale an option? Instead of changing the physics. If so, it shouldn't affect distance if it's just the entire game running faster. Probably not something you'd want to keep, but it could be useful for quickly testing what speed feels best. If everything is tied to a timescale value then you could even make it an option for the player, so they could choose if they want the game to be floatier or faster. Just an idea that popped into my head.

I tried speeding up the time scale by 10%, and it feels great. Either the game will now have a constant timescale of 1.1, or I'll modify all of the mechanic and animation speeds to compensate... which would be better, but it's so tedious lol 🥲

@@rayfan9876 Haha, yeah. I suppose if it works, it works, though. As long as nothing breaks, then dedicating time to changing everything might be a waste (assuming it's a lot). Especially if you decide to tweak it further in the future. Could of course be a problem if things like menu animations and such will eventually be tied to the timescale as well. Another random idea: If you want to play around with time-altering gameplay mechanics (like speeding up and slowing down movement during gameplay or certain animations) then having two timescale references might be advantageous. One for the game, another for menus. Then the gameplay one could also stay at 1.1 for now. But yeah, i figured it would feel a lot better. I'm kinda new around here, but this looks interesting. 🧅 👍🏻🍆👍🏻 🥔🥔 Vegetableman approves.

It already has two separate time scales for that reason, yep! There wouldn't be any other real way to pause the game but also be able to navigate the pause menu. The main reason having a non-1.0 timescale as the standard would be bad is that it everything will technically move faster than I program it to. So I probably will go in and modify the mechanics themselves... better sooner than later.
